re: Why isn't Brazil retuning kicks or punts?

Returning kicks is more than just speed. It's about picking a lane and making people miss with ball security. Brazil will get his shot but OBJ is pretty darn good and bailed us out yesterday.
This. He has some flaws as a receiver but he is damn good with the ball in his hands. Mostly because of his ability to change directions so fluidly while maintaining speed. An ability that makes him perfectly suited for the return game. This game brought the idiocy of our fan base to a whole new level.

Add any post you wish, good speed? Yes. Game changing? No, he was run down by two TCU cover guys. Trindon, PP don't get caught on that return. Surely someone has a real answer to the Brazil status as a return guy.
I'm sure Xavier Carter wouldn't have been run down either but he was a terrible return guy
There is more to it than just speed. Vision and agility are important. Brazil will get his chance eventually. Relax.

Odell is solid but doesn't have the game changing speed. I was a little surprised that Brazil wasn't deep, if for nothing else, to give OBJ a blow. Thoughts...
This guy is the definition of game changer. God dammit where do we get fans like this? If Odell didn't have to hurdle the kicker no one was catching him. Even the guys with an angle.

anyone else think ODBJr looks faster this year?
he would have housed that KO if he didnt have to dodge the kicker. They wouldnt have caught him

Confucious asks question, how does man with no game-changing speed, end up changing game last night with his speed?

A ridiculous statement..no game changing speed? The very play you say he got ran down on changed the entire momentum of the game,WOW.Maybe you should just sit and watch the game and stop the in-depth analysis,or in this case over-analysis...or maybe you were just drunk?

Exactly. Is he as fast as Brazil?? No. He very well could be 1 of the fastest player in the nation. But to say OBJ doesnt have "game changing speed" is absurd. Dude is 1 of the fastest guys on the team and is a very very smooth runner.
He had 1 of the best nights in the return game for LSU in a long time. He was outstanding.

Odell has literally had game changing returns... so if you are looking for game changing you don't go away form that.

You want a true freshman replacing the preseason All SEC kick/punt returner after he had a stellar night returning kicks? fricking idiot.

No arse hat (I heard that from a genius on this board), its a simple question. Its not a knock on OBJ to ask if another guy, one of the most dynamic speed freshman in the nation and fastest 60 meter guy LSU has ever recruited (including world class sprinter TH), will get a look at some returns. Why is this such a personal question to many of the brain trust of the program? Then again, LSU and Miles have never been known to play freshman in skill positions, right?

He returned that kick for 75 yards, sat one play then came right back in the game. Thats what I like to see from our players.
Brazil will get his chance, wouldnt be surprised if they let him go back on a few this week later in the game.

You realize that means you think UAB will score, right?

You specifically said OBJ is not a game changer and people gave examples of games he has changed with returns, including the most recent game.
To add one more thing to this thread. It takes one more very important skill that hasn't been mentioned to be a good returner. Securing the football. Fielding punts is not an easy thing to do. Many good football players struggle with it. Look at Holliday. What evidence do you have that Brazil can handle this task at all much less better than a tested upperclassman?

What game were you watching? Maybe you didn’t notice how Beckham got behind one of the best secondaries all night? Or that Beckham was one of the most dynamic player on Saturday?
