Did you graduate from LSU?

Many of them can get a free education at a better school. Most of the ones who leave have never had the opportunity to experience anything but Louisiana and may just want to expand their horizons. Also, money.

but it is ok for LSU to take kids from Florida, Texas, etc.? Some people want to get out and see different parts of the country. While I wish all top recruits in Louisiana would choose to attend LSU, I have no issues with kids choosing to go somewhere else if that is their wish.

Get off the computer you're drunk.

Most of these Kids don't grow up with the allegiance to college schools because they don't have relatives or friends that've attended. They aren't exposed to the stadium in any other capacity than being a recruit. So I don't think they have the same perspective as us die hard fans who've gone to games since childhood.
Then again, you've also got to factor in this kids may have aspirations for this to really be their career regardless of the substantial odds against that. So... It also may be just a logical decision ("I won't play." "Too many people are ahead of me at my position." "I want to play QB.") They're all factors.

Why? Why would you think this? Prove to me how more Louisiana kids correlates into more championships.
68 of the players on LSU's roster are from Louisiana. 68.
Also, there are some phenomenal schools in this country. How could you fault anyone for WANTING to go and QUALIFYING for Stanford, Vanderbilt, Duke, Northwestern, Rice, etc.

It goes without saying that LSU's title hopes hinge upon its ability to consistently retain the best in-state recruits. This has always been the case. The 2003 MNC was premised in large part upon the 2001 consensus #1 recruiting class, consisting of several highly touted in-state recruits (Spears, Hill, Clayton, etc.).
This is a huge year for in-state recruiting. There are three Louisiana kids in the Top 15 of the Rivals 100. We must sign them. We must not allow other programs to pilfer our talent.

I can't think of a good reason why a kid should put this higher than his other, real, needs.
I understand we want the football team to be good, but putting that above what is best for the kids makes us seem like assholes.

You're operating under the premise that everyone that grew up in Louisiana actually likes Louisiana. That is not the case.
I left Louisiana when I was 22 and I would never live there again permanently. Just doesn't fit me. If I had the opportunity to leave earlier I would have.

some kids just want to get away. Look at all of the out of state guys we got last year. Bama does the same thing. You can't keep them all. I know it is hard to believe but not all kids born and raised here want to go to LSU.

Yeah, OP. Patrick Peterson, Matt Flynn, Jamarcus Russell, Richard Dickson, and all those other OOS guys should have just stayed in their state. Hell, what is Ed Paris doing? Why wouldn't he wanna represent his state?
