Do the Saints have the balls to make a big trade?

Ok, here's a risky idea, but one that could help the team- trade a starting WR for a hot young linebacker. A guy who might be backing someone up as of now, but will step in and start for the Saints.
Insane? Answer me this- how deep is our WR group right now? When you need a big, physical receiver in traffic, is Graham a good enough choice to let Colston go? Does it look like Stills or Toon can come in and start, based on what they've shown so far? Does it look like Tanner can make the team, and be the 3rd down/possession guy who just catches everything thrown his way (the Lance Moore spot)?
I'd hate to lose either guy, but it looks like we could replace them now. And if that means we get a significant upgrade at LB in return- someone who will solidify the defense- it would change the Saints from "dangerous" to a serious favorite.

Trades aren't about balls, they're about brains.

Toon= A younger version of Colston
Tanner= A younger Moore.
Now with this being said, how much more developing do Tanner, Toon, and Stills need tbh? I think they could ALL start somewhere. But are you really ok with trading a proven #1 WR in Colston for a young linebacker who may not pan out?
It would have to be a trade the Saints just couldn't pass on for them to trade one of our top WR's imo.

Tend to agree with OMFG that we'd need someone who could play now. A Colston for Jarvis Jones type scenario would be ideal. The Steel Curtain does not have a go to WR, and we obviously need the LB.

Who's going to trade for a guy who is currently injured and hasn't played this preseason?

Yep, this just doesn't happen.
-Tampa Bay Bucs
-Darrelle Revis

I think you mean Stills. Tanner might not even make the team.

Loomis will trade Colston and McCown to Arizona for Daryl Washington and a 2nd round pick.
Then he will turn off Madden and go to bed where he will sleep on a big pile of money with 2 OT 10's.
Book It!

This may be a dumb question but why couldnt we trade Will Smith to a team who runs a 4-3 for an outside line backer?

Was for picks, and didn't happen two weeks before the season started. There's no way someone as good as Colston or Graham gets traded this late. And which hypothetical OLB of equal value are you all expecting to get back?

Yup, because player for player trades happen all the time in the NFL.

You should change your name from UnderDog to UnderTheInfluence.

I am wondering something though. Has a rookie EVER been traded before the season started (not counting Eli type trades)? After the season started?

We are trading McCown for Navarro Bowman.

so in this hypothetical what do we even have to trade worth a good young 3-4 lb

He's just trying to make fun of me for my thread. I suggested we might be able to get a situational pass rusher (a back up on a deep roster), and he's built the strawman that I wanna trade McCown for a star player.

I actually think we will be fine at LB. If we pick up anybody, it will be in free agency after final cuts, and it will be D-linemen and/or O-linemen.
