Anybody ever used any of these type traps? I have decided it is time to lower the coon population after looking through game cam pics.

Yep, they work. Its what a lot of hunters put out to get rid of coons around their corn feeders, that and flybait.

Our coons are eating the protein pellets as well as corn. The population is getting out of hand. I'm thinking it might help the turkey eggs as well.

I'd offer the services of me and my left handed 17 hmr, but the last time we tried that, I didn't fare so well.

Yeah, that was pretty terrible.
If you have ever been so drunk you can't see a coon at 20 yards you might be...........

Is that some sort of a "hand" trap? I've never seen anything like that before. Fascinating.

They call them coon cuffs. When the coon reaches in to grab bait he is trapped.

Yep, like a Chinese finger trap. just throw a couple pieces of corn at the bottom, and they will be there to dispatch, or there will be a few three legged coons around.

I was told the small marsh mellows were the bees knees for these traps.

That was a terrible display of shooting.

Marsh mellows and peanut butter do the trick. Just make sure you secure it well cause we are missing a trap. Think the coyotes got to it and took the raccoon or possum and trap

The poison is set and forget, but the traps need to be checked regularly so the animal doesn't suffer and chew its foot off. We've used the cuff traps before. They work really well but we run our trap lines daily.

They work really well in short burst. After about 5 days pull them and wait a few weeks before putting them back out.
Marshmallows worked alright but floating fish feed pellets tossed with syrup produced better. Just don't use this if cats are around.
One warning, if working near pets make sure the type you buy has a pull trigger only. A dog can set the push type off and be caught by the tongue.

I've used them. They work EXTREMELY well. Bait with marshmellow and grape jelly.
