Chalmette is just horrible when it comes to athletics, I mean we haven't won anything in soooooo long. The year after Katrina, SBUS won a playoff game in baseball. They didn't win another playoff game in football or baseball until......ever

Chalmettes baseball field is a work of art.

Yeah too bad I never did get to play on the revamped field. I remember when I played there we spent half of the winter resodding the outfield because we didn't have enough money to pay someone else

Just let JC, Evangel, Parkview, Calvary Baptist, etc(the "football schools") play up in 5A for football. Problem solved.
That's just it...they won't do it.
Evangel will go to 5A. Curtis won't want to split championships with Evangel so they will go to 4A. Calvary will thing they are the next one in line, so they'll go to 3A. They'll all continue to dominate.
The only way to make it work without a split is to FORCE private schools to play up, but they don't want to do that either.

since someone gratuitously brought us up...

since you seem to know so much about MY husband, you should know his office hours, practice schedule and where we live. Why don't you confront him about your extreme concern for Chalmette Football and talk with him FACE TO FACE? Stop hiding behind a computer and be an adult. You know what they say about opinions, right?
from another fan

Mrs. Tucker, I have no idea who you are, but your husband's record speaks for itself. Under his role as Head Coach of the Owls he has compiled a 24-36 record in 6 seasons. I understand in the first 2 seasons he had hardly any talent, but since then he's had 3 classes graduate (07, 08, 09) and has only put 2 winning teams on the field. Chalmette has the best facilities in the state yet can't seem to garnish a win, why?

Honestly, I don't care what you all think of Chalmette football, quit bashing MY husband. PERIOD.
He is a great Husband and an Amazing father.

What does this have to do with winning?
Posted on 8/15/13 at 1:03 pm to More beer please
it doesn't... i'd be happy for Tucker IMO if he coached somewhere else, or if he just went back to being a teacher...
the key stat for him as far as i'm concerned is 1-19 against Rummel, St. Aug, Holy Cross, Jesuit, and Brother Martin... the 1 was against a Holy Cross team that damn near went 0-10 and came down to the last play of the game. also we haven't beaten a 5A playoff team in a decade, 2003 the last time also against Holy Cross
someone probably used that stat to tell all the other principals there should be a split...

5 a and 4a don't want them

I have spoken to a principal of one of the schools that you mentioned and he told me directly that playing Curtis every year and losing to them would "hurt our numbers." Would they lose a significant number of students? No. Little White Johnny from Old Metairie will always go to one of those schools. Would they lose some athletes? Yes.
and back in 2003 this is what set the table for where we are now

back in those days they still stood a chance of losing before the Dome though...
now they're winning national championships with 5 star recruits

Any team always TECHNICALLY stands a chance of losing before the Dome. Their record of state titles speaks for itself, though. I don't buy the argument that Evangel is the reason they won't go to 5A. It doesn't make sense.
Personally, I hate the split. But there will never be a change to satisfy everyone.
