It's getting close to bow season so I'm trying to cook/give away a freezer full of deer meat only to restock it. Made a basic deer roast and gravy and figured the F&D Board would enjoy. I began with a 2.5 pound deer roast. Seasoned it and floured the roast and browned it in a cast iron pot on both sides.

After browning the roast I removed it from the pot, added my trinity, browned the trinty, reintroduced the roast, added 3 cups of water, and 2 cans of mushroom sauce to give it some flavor. I then brought it to a boil and lidded it. Stuck it in the oven for 3.5 hours on 300.

I also made some lima beans. Browned bacon, added chicken stock, then added a ham bone that I had in the freezer.

Enjoy

Thanks. Yeah I didn't get any this year either. These peaches are from Alexander's Mkt. They are advertised as Ruston peaches.

Damn son! I'm normally not big on deer roast and rather my venison ground for tacos, burgers, sketti, chili...etc. that has some to do with my taste but more to do with my family. With a couple of 3 year old kiddos, I have to keep deer "hidden".

But I would tear that shat up that is pictured above!!!

You're gonna get some hate for the mushroom sauce, assuming it is similar to cream of mushroom soup.

but looks tasty

It's not even close to cream of mushroom soup. I don't mind the hate even if it was. I think that my food is pretty good and I know that I'm gonna eat good.
