The legacy is for the family.
That's what a legacy is...
He is still pissed about giving up his son's birthright when he gave up gray matter.

I think the reason Walt has been able to be so remorseless is because he thinks he only has an intermediate amount of time left and will do whatever to leave his daughter and son better off.
That Walter White died a long time ago.
This is about his ego, his empire and his pride now.

It shows realism. Often the guys who try to do the right moral things are destined to lose. The guy who takes the amoral route makes it out and has to live with what he has done. The best possible ending is for Walt to win, Jesse dies, Hank dies etc. Walt knows he has cancer so it doesn't matter to him because he knows he won't have to live with what he's done. He goes to the doctor to check the progress of the cancer and finds out it's been eradicated. Walt then has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life.
IMO the best ending would be a showdown between Walt and Jesse. That is what the show's message has been building towards.
It would be the ultimate contrast of redemption versus downfall.

Anybody else watching it again on the replay?

I'd have to disagree with this. The Walt that was purely invested in making sure his family was left with a nice nest egg once he was dead is long gone.
I'm not arguing with you their. I agree that the reason he is still in the meth game is because of his own ego and pride, but the original reason he got involved is because of his children and I think he still cares about them over everything. Look at how he reacted when Skylar took them from him.

Well, that was clearly stated when he told Jesse something to the effect, "How often do you get to be the best in the world at something. We are the best."
He needs that validation.
He needs that validation.

Yep
I mean even the commercials and the poem read by Cranston leading up to tonight's episode focus on his name being known. He started out trying to make cash and had plenty of it for his family. He is way beyond that. He wants respect. He wanted an empire. He wants his name to live one. He is the one who knocks.

Walt's license plate reads "5BB920X". Season 5 Breaking Bad Episode 9. 20X?

This
Walt's ambition is evident in his past with Gray Matter. His personal life took over and he turned into boring old Walter White with a wife, kids and a shitty car.
Now, he has fame (amongst his peers), fortune and power. He feels like he can whip his dick out and take over any situation. This isn't about helping his family anymore, this is about selling his soul to become as powerful as he can be.
He told Jesse "If you believe in a Hell, we're pretty much going there" last year. This is a man fully invested in this life, whatever he has left. He wants his name to be remembered and doesn't care about the consequences, even if the are eternal. He is fully, completely, 100% evil now.

Grrrrrrr. There's 2 drunk chicks in my house that won't shut up and keep trying to talk me, telling me the same bs they did an hour ago.
Grrrrrrrrr.
Grrrrrrrrr.

People keep saying this, and I don't get it. Walter isn't evil to me. He's pragmatic. He does what he has to do and no more. He doesn't want to kill people. He does it when he thinks he has to. He always has a pretty valid reason.
Mike is an exception. That was stupid.
That's not evil to me.
Otherwise every great general or ruler would be considered evil.

It will probably be shown eventually, but I wonder who wrote "Heisenberg" on the wall of Walt's house. Could be the Czechs sending some sort of message, or it could be that Walt's identity was released as part of a nationwide manhunt and some of the crashing kids did it.

You could even make an argument that while the actual moment itself was stupid and impulsive, the decision in retrospect was sound.
The ten dudes had to go and, like Lydia noted last season and Jesse tonight, Mike was not going to be onboard with that plan under any circumstances.

My guess is that it's some enemies, either the Czechs or the Arizona guys, who are no doubt pretty pissed as well right now.

The fact that it is spelled correctly probably rules out kids or the aryan guys...or even Todd. I really think it's going to be Walt that wrote it. It might be a big frick you to the guys coming for him as he slipped away.

You have to be joking. Even Gillligan said He doesn't like Walt and that he's clearly a bad guy now.
Bombs up nursing home to kill 1 guy
Has 10 prisoners murdered with no remorse
Poisons a child
Kills his business partner
Lies straight face to everyone
He is a monster who will do anything to increase his perceived power. He has broken bad.

Sorry. None of that is evil to me. It's not wanton killing. It's killing with a purpose. Maybe not what a normal person would do, but Walt isn't normal. Like many super-intelligent people, he's a bit of a sociopath.
He's not a serial killer. He's not a sadist. His killings are not racially motivated. These are all ingredients for someone to be "evil". He might be morally reprehensible, but he's not evil.
ETA: It was two guys in the nursing home...three if you count Salamanaca.
