By accepting his suspension with 50 games left in the regular season, it is unknown if Cruz will be able to return for the postseason.
if he serves his 50 games, why not let him play in the postseason?

The Rangers' playoff chances just took a huge hit (if not a fatal one).

Man Ram to save the day

Well he is going to be a Free Agent after the year. Might as well get it over with now.

Well A-Rod decision is coming soon then. He got out when the getting is good. I guess it was 50 games in this case

He'll be available. Get it out the way before playoffs start. Good move.

Rangers aren't making the playoffs with Manny Ramirez our up whomever they are going to call up.

Its a huge hit to them since the Rangers have a hard time manufacturing runs, However, The Rangers do not play a team with a winning record again until labor day against Oakland. So I still think their chances are still ok.

Local radio said that the only way he would appeal is if Texas extended him now. Sounds to me like his Rangers career might be done.

noon central? All of NY is waiting about our best 3rd basemen in the Bronx. After all 1/2 an A Rod is better than David Adams

Totally. He owes it to his team. And I do not want the Rangers re-signing him. He let his team down and that defensive play sure isn't anything great.
We know PED doesn't stand for Performance Enhancing Defense

The players confirmed to be suspended by FoxSports.com are:
• Nelson Cruz, Texas Rangers outfielder (50 games, no appeal).
• Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres shortstop, (50 games, no appeal).
• Jhonny Peralta, Detroit Tigers shortstop (50 games, no appeal).
• Antonio Bastardo, Philadelphia Phillies reliever (50 games, no appeal).
• Jordany Valdespin, New York Mets outfielder, (50 games, no appeal).

Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun was the first player to reach an agreement with MLB on a suspension for his connection to the Biogenisis case. The 2011 NL MVP accepted a season-ending 65-game suspension last month.

Cleared, either completely or in terms of new discipline: Bartolo Colon, Yasmani Grandal, and Melky Cabrera, all who will get no additional discipline over what they have already served (each received 50-game suspensions last season). Finally, there have been no violations found for Gio Gonzalez of the Nationals or Danny Valencia of the Orioles. Each were named in the original Miami New Times report about Biogenesis, but there was not much in the way of evidence against them in the actual Biogenesis documents.

The new names: The Mets Jordany Valdespin, the Phillies Antonio Bastardo and the Astros Segio Escalona are all going to receive 50-game suspensions.
