The Montefeltro may be the smoothest semi auto gun I have ever shot.
Agree 1000%. Very nice gun.

I shoot a franchi cause I knew I would beat the hell out of it etc... buried it into the mud when I fell once, shot it the rest of the season without cleaning with no hangups.
Last year was first year I had an issue after 4 years, broke it down and resolved it in the field.
Its no SBE2 but it gets the job done. FWIW I have a silver mallard and browning bps for back ups.

I have an SBE2 and a Beretta 390 as a backup. If I had to pick one, it would be the Beretta. I say this because the thing refuses to jam and doesn't need be babied.
I see this concept a lot on various boards..."I shoot this high end gun but have this as a backup".
If you're going to spend the money for Beretta's A400 or Benelli SBE2, etc. there should be no need for a backup. For me personally, I'd hunted an Xtrema2 since July 2006 and then talked myself into selling it to a buddy and going with the new A400 Xtreme last Christmas. Nothing but great things to say about either of those two, and I suppose I have an old Beretta AL390 in back of the closet as my "backup" I hope to not need. The longer fore ends on the beretta's fit me best with my longer arms, just the same an SBE and a Remmy 870 are way too short on me. Get what fits you!

One can only hope that some day GLOCK will make an auto loading shotgun.

I got one of these in high school LINK
It's a semi-auto 12 gauge that can shoot 3.5" shells. I definitely did not pay that much for it. More like half the listed price (I think it was $299). It was right in my budget.
Same company makes AK's and saiga's. that is their hunting gun. Never had any issues ever.

Add to your list the Benelli Super Vinci. The gun is pretty amazing and has completely redesigned the action of a shotgun to make it more reliable. The recoil spring is directly behind the bolt as opposed to in the stock. I have had it since it came out and have not and any issues with the gun yet. I love the weight of the gun and it has great balance.
I also have a Benelli SBE and I always have it with me while hunting but it hasn't been out of the case since I bought the Super Vinci

You never know when shiz wlll get fricked up on my hunting expeditions. However, my 15 yo seems to have inherited the Benelli so I am kinda stuck with the Beretta. I guess if you really wanted to call me out, I got a 870 Mag for a backup to a backup.

Who doesn't!? I'd never be afraid to load up the 870 (mine's a 20g) for a hunt, always ready!

I have the Super Vinci and I am very happy with it.

Another vote for the super vinci.

Great feeling gun, but I can't get over the safety being in the "wrong" spot. It just doesn't feel right to me to have the safety in front of the trigger.

Im the opposite. I would much rather have it in front of the trigger.

I dont really like the look of the super vinci. I prefer the traditional semi auto look. I actually prefer the wood and black look. But now all the wood guns have silver receivers for some reason.

Only one I would say to avoid would be the Maxus, I have two buddies with VM and both have been stellar. Will most likely be my next gun.

I love wood stocked rifles but I am way to tough on shotguns for them to be wood, they just wouldn't last. That's why it is going to be best for you to go and hold, feel, grope all of these different guns. I agree with the others saying that sticking with one of the three B's and you cant go wrong. They all have a different feel, look, but are all really nice guns.
