The Oaks is trying to get enough members to go private again..

The goal is to get enough members to buy the note from the bank and go 100% private.
The current bank note was the reason why the course could not stay afloat.
It's a $6,000 initial investment plus $325/mo which includes all range, green fees and cart fees.

Ladies and Gentlemen
Many of you have already heard about my plans to save The Oaks at Sherwood. We can do this!!! But, I will need your commitment and your help in recruiting investors/members.
My plan is outlined on the attached document. Please forward this email to as many people as you can. I already have SEVERAL commitments, but will need more! Our plans are to run newspaper and radio ads this week to get the word out.
Please feel free to reply to this email with any questions. If you are committed to joining me in purchasing the golf course, please send me an email stating your intention. Although we prefer everyone to come on board as an investor and member, I understand some will only want to come in as an investor due to various reasons. We will need your support in that regard also!
Thanks again for your time and consideration!!
Kindest Regards
Blaine A. Patin

Snatchola has been posting in the golf thread about this. I'm sure he would be happy to answer anyone's questions.
Never been to the Oaks (only BR once), but I always hate to see courses shut down. Hopefully they reach their goal.

sounds like a good deal financially. I would pay $6k entry fee if my course was full private.

What kind of contract will they make people sign? Seems like this could go Powerhouse Gym pretty easily.

I believe they want to have commitments from members to buy it from the bank by the end of July.
It won't be: Give me your money now! ..and it never opens and you lose $6K.

I hope this works, it going all private doesn't bother me, I don't live there anymore, glad it may be saved. They need to not let Blaine run it this time

If they hit those numbers, they will have more than enough in monthly revenue to make significant improvements to the course.

Blaine hasn't been running it the past two years!

considering it looks as if he has put himself in charge of this plan to save the club - I think that is exactly what you are going to get

I hope he pulls it off

hmmmm, does snatchola = BP?
Posted on 7/8/13 at 9:53 am to LSUAlum2001
You are exactly correct. The plan is to get 400 people comitted to partnering on this. If we can't get to the numbers we need to get it off the ground.....$0 dollars will be collected.
The dues will be $275 including carts, green fees, range. And we will all own the property free and clear.

Absolutely. Most on here know that. I'm not sure what issues tiger1242 has with me. But if I've done something to wrong him, I'd be the first to own it and make it right. I believe he has mentioned he used to work for me.

Ha....if we get our 400 people on board...I have no interest in working at the club. I only want to be a partner with 400 other similar minded people.

I'm sure they have already seen the email, but I passed it over to the guys in BRAAS.

Hey man. I appreciate that. The BRAAS guys have always supported the club. It will be a great club for your fellow members to support. I've received several calls from a lot of your buddies already.
Thanks for your help.

Lol. Not sure BP has done any wrong to anyone. Class act in everything he does. And I know this personally. Wouldn't be here today where I am without him.

Good luck BP. Pulling for you.

I hate to see smaller community country clubs go under, so I am all for any plan that can keep it going
The golf business has taken a beating recently, we don't need anymore facilities closing that is for sure
