I thought it was terrible. Could have been summarized in the beginning of Episode 2.
Not to mention the best character got very little screen time, we knew nothing about him, and said two words the whole movie.

I still hold the opinion that the movie's failure, obviously not in monetary terms, lies solely on the shoulders of young Jake Lloyd. I have never seen a worse performance in a major motion picture in my life. And the worst part is, it gets worse every time you watch it. I cannot for the life of me understand how this kid was ever cast in any movie, especially in one of the most anticipated movies of the past 20 years.

Did you like that movie?
No. Slow, boring, predictable.
I chalked it up, at the time, to it being a restart, a set-up piece and that Lucas would regain his footing for the remainder.
THEN, I watched Send in the Clones - my G-d what an awful, awful movie. I only went to see Revenge of the Sith for completion purposes. It was better than Clones, but how could it not be?
"Noooooooo!!!!!!!!" - I laughed out loud. I always refer to that character as "Fake Vader", or "The artist that refers to himself as Darth Vader but is, in reality, a whiny p*ussy in Vader's armor."
I'm done with Lucas.

Other than the cast, the script, the overly relied upon CGI, the pathetic "bad guy robots", the stilted dialogue, the senseless plot, the under use of Darth maul, it really was a good movie.

It's a tough rewatch. Even the parts I like, like the pod race or final lightsaber battle seem to drag on too long now.

I thought it was the best of the 6

As an avid fan of the EU books, I thoroughly enjoyed the Jedi action. Thats the way a Jedi is described in combat in the books, action that technology just didn't allow in Star Wars and even to a certain extent Empire. I've always liked the final duel between Vader and Luke, just because of what it meant.
That being said, I saw Phantom Menace 4 times in the theatre. It was cool, because it was Star Wars. Looking back now, its not that great of a movie. Nothing basically happens. Nothing. You could have summed up the events of that movie in the crawl. I have the same issue in the second one. Why the hell would Padme fall in love with Anakin?
Now, I enjoyed Revenge of the Sith, poor casting and one ill timed NOOOOOO aside. The duel between Obi Wan and Anakin was just fantastically done. I watched some of the behind the scenes stuff, and that entire sequence was done 100% with Ewan and Hayden, they spent a ton of time learning the fight choreography. It was extremely intense.

The second one was worse IMO. I dont think its that bad of a movie TBH. Ill always watch the Star Wars saga if it comes on Spike.

Yes, I will admit that Jar Jar was absolutely terrible and that the actors playing both young and old Anakin were bad, but I did not let that ruin the movie for me. It had lightsabers and Jedi.
This is honestly how I feel. I try not to let all of the little things being the films down for me.

It's not his fault, it's Lucas'. He is horrible with dialogue.

Still has the best light saber fight of all the movies IMO.

Nope. That honor goes to Yoda in #2.

Great light saber fights in all 3 prequels. I think Dooku should have been left out and Maul been used throughout. Dooku sucked and I thought it was a slap in the face to let him escape a duel with Yoda.

I have to say that that duel is one of the worst things I've ever seen. Yoda should not have a lightsaber jumping around like a chimpanzee.

Yoda pulling the lightsaber was the only redeeming scene in AOTC...it was pretty badass. his mannerisms were freaking awesome.

I don't blame that kid
But Lucas on the other hand should eat my doo doo

Extremely shocking and unexpected because he channeled the force to move that old decrepit body around.

I'll admit, I got excited the first time I saw Yoda pulling out that lightsaber. However, I think it would have been MUCH better if, instead of him jumping around all crazy, he simply stood there, calmly side-stepping blows while his lightsaber fought while floating in the air. It would have really punched home the "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter" idea of the force.
But yes, besides a few moments, the prequels were all trash.
