While I love Liam Neeson and Qui Gon, the character really wasn't needed. That arc should have went to Obi-Wan in the beginning. Get rid of Jar Jar and cast a better Anakin and it's a great movie.

A lot of people really seem to hate Jar Jar but I thought he was pretty funny. The movie wasn't that bad, people just get angry when things don't live up to their expectations. If you judge the movie for what it is and what it's trying to do, it's entertaining and fun. What more can you ask for.

I use it on my dates. What the girls really love is when you get them by a fire place (make sure they are dressed as a dominatrix first) and say I can't just wish away these feelings while acting like a creeper.

Not allowed to use the dark side, bra. Maxi bid de force. Just think how bad his adult years would be if he gave into the darkside.

You would think they could've pulled some legit people.

Portman, McGregor, and Neeson are all legit. Just the Anakins sucked, completely miscast.

My comment was referring to the Anakins. The others you mention are legit.

The only thing I liked about it was Darth Maul. The fight scene at the end was awesome.

Aside from that, knowing this kid eventually turns into Darth Vader kinda ruined it for me. "Let's try spinning, that's a good trick.... whoaaaaa" Come on.

I'm a hardcore Star Wars fan, and the only part of this movie I'll watch is the fight scene at the end.

Jar Jar should've never been introduced.

Darth Maul and the Pod races were pretty awesome. That was about it.

Not to post blasphemy but, really, much of the dialogue from the original Star Wars trilogy was mediocre at best. There were enough classic lines to compensate, though. Great movies, very innovative and creative, but the dialogue and acting could have been better.

Episode II was a steaming pile of crap. I really can't think of a single positive thing to say except perhaps that Jar Jar wasn't in it. The whole General Greivous / Obi-Wan fight could have been cool, but you're watching it and your like "ok, so WTF is this guy?" That character (Greivous)was only loosely developed. And Obi-Wan finds out vital information about the clone thing on the planet KAMINO from a fry-cook alien lizard named Dexter Jettster in a diner in the Coco district? Who writes shite like that?
It's like Lucas had a mental seizure and forgot that he was doing Star Wars and not American Grafitti.
Indiana Jones was and still is one of my favorite movies, for the record, so the guy deserves credit for a number of great films, but he fell off REAL hard when he made the SW prequals.

Pod racing was enjoyable the first time I saw it but now it is way too long.

In regards to Grevious, I'd argue he is more advanced than what Vader became and he predates Vader. The character was just a way to sell toys.

What's sad is, that it probably had the best lightsaber battle & had a really badass villain in Maul that was killed off. That's what sucked for me.

I met Ray Park in person at Wizard World a few years back. Good guy. Liked him in Heroes too.

I thought he was just a souped up droid. I guess he had some organic components though. Point being he was a poorly thought out character and utterly useless.

I just read an article about how that movie pretty much ruined Jake Lloyd's (Anakin Skywalker) life. It said ever since the movie came out, pretty much every star wars fan hated it and hated Jake Lloyd. They said it was the worst performance in movie history. Apparently all the kids at his school would constantly tease him about it every time he walked in the room.

Can you post us a link to that article. I'd like to read it. Seems strange that kids that age would care about Anakin Skywalker enough to constantly tease him long enough to have that kind of devastating impact. But I'd like to check out that article.

I liked Darth Maul and the end fight scene and the more extensive use of the light sabers like to cut a hole in the door. I also liked the sea monsters eating each other.

I liked nothing else. Jar jar of course sucked. casting for all the prequels was bad: I don't like Liam Neeson. Portman was awful (was she in phantom menace?) Samuel L Jackson was awful as a Jedi (not sure if he was in phantom menace either)

It's too bad Sinbad stole the show, he just commanded every scene he was in. Poor Jake got lost in an overabundance of acting talent.

I never understood the hate for the prequels. I loved all of them and Episode 3 is my favorite of all 6 films. It is Jedi with lightsabers. There was no possible way I would not love that movie. I have read over 50 books from the expanded universe, so seeing any kind of Jedi on screen is awesome.

Yes, I will admit that Jar Jar was absolutely terrible and that the actors playing both young and old Anakin were bad, but I did not let that ruin the movie for me. It had lightsabers and Jedi. Did you miss that part? Also, Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were both awesome. And we got to see Yoda fight. I have watched all 3 prequels many, many times.

On a side note, any chance the originals (as in not the updated ruined versions) get released on blu ray now that lucas sold it?
