We saw him with Hank Jr and Eric Church a couple years back in Laffy
That show was the third time I had seen him. Wish they would have let him play a little longer that night. El Josey was supposed to be there that night but couldn't make it.

That whole concert was aweful IMO.
Cool fact: slickback got a cigarette burn in the roof of his (at the time) pretty new truck that night

In was at that show also......I was disappointed that JJ didn't get more time but I enjoyed the show overall.

I watched slickback eat a cigarette last time we saw JJ at Texas club.

This big fat fricker was causing a ruckus in front of me at that show. Finally someone just shoved him to the ground and ran.......he thought it was me so I had to put my dukes up for a moment.

I have seen JJ 3x, and two times the facility ran out of miller lite and coors light. People need to plan better.
Each of those times my wife almost divorced me. She was driving me home after i had been sitting in a bar anxiously awaiting (since doors opened at 7:00) a show that wouldn't start until midnight, while purchasing beer from the bar by the 12-pack. Each time I tell myself to pace myself so I can remember the show, each time I fail.

The sad thing is they wouldn't sell more than 2 drinks per person. Logistically it was a nightmare getting into the place.
Pretty shitty venue if you ask me.

Checked out a few minutes ago and in Jackson square getting some grub. Heading back to the great state of Mississippi in a few.

Holy shite, I'm still drunk. I agree that the venue as a whole sucks.... lines too long, not having piss pots by the seats and running out of beer? Are you kidding me? Screw you, Tom Benson.
Aside from all that, I have to say I'll never forget last night... at least, those parts I remember. I've listened to Merle my whole life and he's on my Mt. Rushmore of music. The man brought it. Plain and simple.
Kudos to you that came out. Maybe this will help bring more real country music down this way.
Time for a wake-up beer.

I was blown away by Merle. I've seen him in casinos twice and was expecting that type of performance. He got up there, sang his arse off, stood the entire time, and actually performed.
I saw JJ three times at Tx club, one at a warehouse bar in Nola, and with EC and Bocephus in Lafayette (although I don't remember a luck of that one).
Excellent concert, bad venue.
