Has their ever been a more self-important TV show than "The Newsroom"?

I tried watching it last year but gave up after a few episodes because it was so heavy handed, so full of itself.. There was no subtley, no nuance, no leaving the viewer with questions to ponder. Every episode was like a self-righteous sermon. And the Tea Party paranoia was just too much to take. Something tells me that if the show lasts long enough to take on the year 2013, there won't be any episodes about Obama's drones, or the IRS targeting conservatives, or the AP scandal, or the NSA spygate, or Fast and Furious, etc. Just a hunch.
Now these teasers promoting the show's second season, with the anchor guy wandering in the wilderness (a la Moses, I assume).
Good Lord, I hate the show even more now than I did when I quit watching it.

Would you like it more if it matched your political views?

Oh absolutely he would. He holds every media and entertainment source accountable unless it's conservative.

there isn't much drama in a political-based show in a world with a lack of politics

I wouldn't. False flagging the main character as a Republican is just too much of a shallow and childish trick.

The TV show is pretentious garbage.

I didn't have to see an episode and could have told you that.

I think it's a great show.
For what it's worth, they hired a few conservatives to balance out the writing.

I had high hopes for this show. The West Wing was liberal but it wasn't as pompous as this show. Sorkin really shows his colors here. I stopped when the Indian kid punched the computer with Rush Limbaugh's face on it. Subtly is gone.

I'm conservative but I really like the show. I agree it can be heavy handed and slanted at times but overall the acting and writing is really good. Plus I really want to bang that british cougar.

I can watch The West Wing but I can't watch The Newsroom.

I'd give Aaron Sorkin a zj but the episode I watched of the Newsroom was the most obnoxious hour of "entertainment" I've endured. I can deal with heavy liberal slants but the show was just unbelievably self-righteous. The writing just came off as douchy.

This. Mutha effin this.
I'm a 20 year subscriber to the Los Angeles Times. Believe me, I can take liberal. I just can't take the heavy-handedness. And honestly, who even thinks about politics whan you're watching TV, unless it just gets shoved in your face. The show is as subtle as a fundamentalist preacher's sermon.
