Javon Belcher! Killed his wife and himself, and killed himself at the Chiefs facility.

That's murder + suicide AND leaving your child alone.

What kind of an idiot mentioned Mathieu in this conversation?

Ray Lewis and OJ don't deserve to be on this list. They are innocent in the eyes of the law. I think a lot of us on this board weren't even old enough to understand the trial when it took place. So what the frick do we know? I'm 26, I remember the pilot on our flight to KC coming over the intercom to say he was innocent.

Drafted by the Reds in baseball - chose football and Oklahoma...became the starting QB as a redshirt freshman and led #2 Oklahoma to a whipping of #1 Nebraska in the Game of the Century II. Led Sooners to and 11-1 season and then subsequently a 9-3 season the following year.

I'm not sure what type of future he would have had in Pro Sports but he had two years left at Oklahoma...and getting busted for selling cocaine and going to prison for 2 years instead of spending that time being adored on a college campus is a major frick up.

When he got out of prison, he entered the NFL draft but wasn't drafted - risk vs. reward.

Has anyone mentioned Denny McLain?

From 30 game winning pitcher...

To retirement in prison...

How about major frick up...(Which because of the time and circumstance)...ended up not being that big of a frick up?

Craig Mactavish...convicted of vehicular manslaughter...killing a young woman while drunk...but this was 1984 and MADD had just been formed and DUI laws were weak and the public didn't care as much...he served 1-year in jail...allowed to watch most of his teams NHL games that year from his cell...then once released...resumed his long playing career...and then became coach of the Oilers!

I don't care who got killed or went to prison. The Buttfumble is the biggest athletic frickup of all time.

This may seem harsh, but dying of a cocaine overdose 2 days after being picked 2nd overall in the NBA Draft has to be pretty high up there.

quote:

*Leonard Kevin "Len" Bias* (November 18, 1963 – June 19, 1986) was a first team All-American college basketball forward at the University of Maryland. He was selected by the Boston Celtics as the second overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft
on June 17, but died two days later from cardiac arrhythmia induced by a cocaine overdose. He is considered by many sportswriters to be one of the greatest athletes not to play at the professional level.

Not to mention this guy wasting away in prison during his prime on rape charges:

Dude, dog killing is not people killing.

Dog fighting used to be mainstream back in the day. Premeditated murder, as far as I know, has never been allowed in any civilized society.

The guy is still a starting QB in the NFL... Ultimately his frick up wasn't as big of a hit to his career as it could have been.

As a new father, the question that immediately popped into my mind was, why was Aaron Hernandez still partying and clubbing if he had a fiancée and an 8 month old baby at home. I have no remorse for the loser. I hope he gets exactly what he deserves...or worse.

OJ yes, but he wasn't in his prime. Hernandez was. He also murdered a dude over presumed BS (disrespect at a club). OJ supposedly did it cuz a guy was fricking his wife, which many men would react in the same way.

It seems like Hernandez cared more about keeping it real than continuing his career as a multimillionaire and raising his baby.

That's the answer right there. Oj was a crime of passion. Rae carruth was similar. Hernandez thinks he is a gangster or something.

Not to mention hernandez had at least 40 million coming to him in future earnings. Oj was retired and carruth was a nobody.

I'd put Aaron Hernandez over Belcher.

Belcher wasn't trying to get away with anything.

Aaron Hernandez was trying to get away with multiple murders and did maybe the shittiest job in the history of humanity in trying to cover his tracks.

Then he made a second dumb decision by not killing himself before getting arrested.

Terrible decisions on top of horrible luck.

No it used to be common and mainstream. Hell, the bulldog exists because of dogfighting. That's specifically what it was bred for
