Too many stories to name. Murphy's aspired to be ATII's.

Roger and I used to fight a lot. Not brawl, but spar and grapple.
I'm a good bit taller than Roger, but he was tough. We're friends.
When he worked there, I got away with a lot shite

Roger's dad and my mother both finished medical school the same year.
I remember one time, somebody fricked with his orange Blazer and did not pass go, did not collect $200, went straight to the hospital.
He had a temper for a while at one point, then decided he wanted to go to medical school himself, and got his mind right.

Didn't realize you were friends. Best place to catch a fight after Hyde Park. Bro and I would usually get an uncooked patty from the grill and watch the hilarity. One night, we were watching a fight and my brother didn't like something. He threw my burger at the bitches fighting. I started to fight my bro b/c he threw my burger.

Good times at this place. I know the guy who was posted in the Times about peeing in the neighbors yard.
eta.. someone linked it from the "dive bar" thread.

Being neighbors of that place would have sucked.
Summer of 1984 before X was illegal you could buy hits for 20.00 on a credit card from the bar. The receipt said "Drinks". That was one HELLUVA summer.

You could buy coke from the bar on st Charles right by the interstate with a credit card. It was "drinks" also

It is amazing the shite people used to get away with. The old days with the carbon copy receipts and manual cash registers.

Jesus, and I thought things like people buying from the bouncer at Balcony Bar was absurd.

I knew the guy who brought. He would drive to Dallas once every two weeks. Come back and every bartender could get it for you. It was like passing out expensive Chicklets.

It was crazy. People who didn't even smoke weed were rolling multiple times a week.

I too frequented the uptown bar scene from 1983 - 1987. Waaaaay to much fun and lots of brain cells were destroyed by psilocybin and many other illegal chemicals.
Cheese fries from Fat Harry's grill at 4am was the norm on Fri/Sat nights
Lots of partying at The Fly after high school and seen plenty of fights over petty bullshiite
fondest memory was my best friend passing out in his car "engine running" outside of Fat Harrys late one night. Alpine stereo was blaring OZZY, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc... engine over-heated causing car to catch fire as we rescued him and watched car burn to ground.
Also remember listening to a Dead cover band play live music at Shanahans . Same BF got arrested for stealing a chili dog and nachos from the Circle K next door. We later bailed him out of OPP at 7am.
crazy times indeed

we may have known the same person
my hookup was a Tulane Law student around 1985. Dude was absolutely batshiite crazy and into body building. One of my last nights partying with him he ran up a $1500 tab at the Sitting Duck , pretty sure he bought shots for everyone in the bar that night

Best I got it we were riding with one of my friends and another guy in the car thought it would be a good idea to shoot a roman candle out of the car. Yep he was tripping on acid and held it backwards. It fired INTO the car. fricking thing caught on fire so fast I'm surprised no one died.

Thank God I was lucky enough to avoid drugs and alcohol.
