Phil Steele is the worst CFB magazine out there. He is horrible. And, I say that irrespective of where he places LSU. His acronymns and reminders of the fact that the team had a back up QB that transferred from Junior College in 2006 therefore this year the team will go 9-3 are nonsensical. It is like he lost his mind in a stats induced fit or seizure and now he just spews stuff. Why anyone buys his magazine is beyond me at this point.
And, I would feel that way if LSU was ranked #1. The way he would have us at #1 wouldn't make any sense either, even if we deserved to be there.

This is such a stupid fricking way to rank teams during the preseason. Rank the teams based on talent, returning starters, coaching, etc., not on how you think each team will navigate its schedule.
In fact, preseason polls are garbage all together. There's no point in ranking teams before they play a game.

This. No way lsu should be out of the top 10 to start any season. They will always field as much talent as any other team in the country and will simply reload as always. In 2011, didn't lsu start the year 16. IMO, this team will play with a similar chip on the shoulder. A hungry and talented team is dangerous. And I believe the cam Cameron hype. He's a game changer.

Ahh, the lets bash the magazine thread if they don't have LSU in the top 5.

Ranking us so low because our schedule is tougher than others in our conference is bullshite and it needs to be called out now.

My favorite bit was his write up of Bama or LSU after 2011 game @ Bama saying he was completely right about everything, most of all that Bama was better. He then spent the rest of the entry twisting the english language into justifying how he was right.
He spouted all kinds of bullshite in favor of Bama but didn't point out stubborn facts like LSU forcing 3rd & longs and 4th down FG attempts each and every time Bama made the red zone. He instead wrote that Bama drove up and down the field at will. What a jackass.

He has florida at 18 also. I think he is basing most of his weight on schedules. We do have a tough schedule that is for sure. Good news about that is we have our destiny in our own hands. If we win we deserve to play for the 'ship

I know the whole your team shouldn't need "billboard motivation" but it would be nice to see us play with some edge again.
