I've seen a lot of young whippersnappers wear black shirts, no hat & end up being miserable out in the bleachers during hot day games. Or wearing shorts & t's & flipflops in early March. With age comes experience. The wise then use that experience to make our lives at the Box easier. The same for TS.

I bring a condom, but it's neatly tucked away in my wallet

Every time I read on here about people griping about the "old" fans I always wonder if they realise who is making the serious contributions to the TAF every year.

I think you would be suprised. We moved from the gold seats to the out field when the new seats went in mid 90's and we still sat around a bunch of old couples who dumped serious cash into the TAF and looked exactly like that.

Considering these are probably some of the folks that sat on wooden bleachers before there were super-sized scoreboards. My dad carried his LSU bag -- inside was program for that day's game, his copy of roster from beginning of season, binoculars, head phone radio. Then when LSU started using the souvenir cups, he'd take those home (along with a few extras). But I'd give anything to be able to have another over-loaded-bag game at Tiger Stadium with my dad. And he gave to LSU after attending in late 30's until the Alzheimer's kicked in. But then I continued with the donations and tickets. Oh and we never left before the scoreboard clock read 00:00 Horrors --- no way ....

I brought my 75 year old uncle to the game last night and the aluminium seats were wearing him out.

when you get old you need to consider how long you will be away from the comforts and necessities of your home and also the effect of the elements on your health. you must be prepared for certain calamaties arising and you want to avoid embarssing yourself in a crowd situation and you surely don't want to piss off the young people. said calamities may include heartburn, acid reflux, excess flatuation, diareaha, constipation and gas pains, elevated blood pressure, back pain, hemaroids, prostrate blockage, skin cancer risks from the excess sun, body temperature fluctuations, loss of bladder control and involuntary spasms. there are others but you get the idea. we would stay at home but if we did LSU would lose much valuable revenues and either the program would go to hell or the young people would have to step up and fund the difference. as you can see, we are bringing all our stuff because we are concerned with the young people having to pony up more and having to sit next to us belching and farting the whole game. we are, as you certainly must agree, a thoughtful bunch.
Such beautiful prose. Endless props to you, sir.

Better to have more stuff than not enough. Preparation my boy, preparation.

Why do "young" people bitch so much about what older people do?
Posted on 6/3/13 at 7:20 pm to King of New Orleans
Why do younger fans have to bring their iphone everywhere they go? They pay more attention to that than they do the game. They can't take a shite without bringing it with them.

That hit close to home. I can remember attending games with my dad when I was knee high, sitting out in the bleachers, waiting after the game for the players to walk out and sign something. We kept going to games for years and years, it was "our thing," burning hot games, freezing cold games, games with run away wins, and horrid losses. He did get to see the first year of the new stadium and the team go to Omaha before he passed. And yes, for years he brought "extra stuff" to the games (always had to have his Tab drink).
