What endorsements do Duncan have? Serious question. And winning and being good is the cure because no one was paying attention to Durant and west brook until they continually got good.

Heady, you're a dumbass.

And big names do want to come to a small market team but it depends on the organization. And there are some who just want money on top of money, and they aren't coming. I can see someone coming down here this year or something being in the works with a big name type player this year.

Define big name free agent please.

If you are talking about the $20 million superstar level free agent, Lebron/Melo/etc. those guys aren't coming. If you're talking about the tier beneath them, the Iggy's and Josh Smith's then yes, those guys will come once AD matures and this becomes a winning team. But no big name star is coming here to be AD's #2. At best you'd find a guard who would be willing to be #1b.

Larger markets > smaller markets in player interest guaranteeing larger market teams getting better through free agency faster > smaller teams getting better through free agency (Exactly the way the NBA brass wants it to be).

SI's fortunate 50 has him listed at $3.5 mil in endorsements.

Don't know how that stacks up.

that's nothing compared to every other major player. Doesn't Lebron or D-Rose make like 10 mil a year just off of Nike

Yeah, that's what I'm basically asking, I don't see Duncan on any commercial except the playoffs ESPN/NBA commercial.

Nola actually has the smallest metro population among all nba cities. Less people = less jersey, signed books, publicity, televised games etc.

That's not always the key. If people want to see you, they'll come see you. And you know how dedicated fans are out here, even though they're fickle.

Flamboyance doesn't have anything to do with that. Sponsors don't go for the most flamboyant players.

OKC, San Antonio, and Memphis are missing something here...

An NFL franchise.

It's the same reason 80,000 people go to Alabama's spring game, there is nothing else sports related to do in those towns.

So naturally, having a big fan base is a piece of cake for those three and players love to play on places that have fans. Who wants to play for a team with no fans?

It is actually THE smallest NBA market. Right behind Memphis, OKC and SA.

Well the Spurs have had their core for so friggin' long, they've never needed to go after a Howard or Melo. They've been right there every year for the last, what 15 years or so.

Well I think okc San Antonio Memphis has proved you don't need to attract that superstar player. There are more than one ways to skin a cat. Besides how I see it, every player that denies us will regret it when were kicking his teams arse

Big name FA do not work out as often as you would think. The key for NO is to make that portion of FA irrelevant- top tier guys want bright lights. The Pels are lucky enough to do that because they have Davis.

SAS, Memphis, Indy have drafted their talent and allowed their players to develop in their system- filling in gaps with smart signings and trades. How many people laughed at the Conley extension or the Gasol trade (I sure as hell did) and does anyone remember when SAS was dealing Parker for Kidd?

Everyone wants to win now, but there are no shortcuts for teams in the less desirable markets.

The big market thing is overblown. Big advertisers will engage you no matter when you are and where they are. Much of that stuff is done in the offseason anyway.

You getter better deals from the local pizza places when you're the cheaper guy who can go to many places.

It has more to do with the management and ownership.

If it was market, Clippers = Lakers, Knicks = Nets.

It's not.
