I really think the overhead is going to be the biggest thing to overcome in that location, they're going to have to pack people in every night to be successful.

Also, the fact that the menu is Italian specific, limits the diner..

What? They do a great job with steaks and fish in my experiences. I don't think I've met anyone who thinks Ruffino's has the best Italian food in Baton Rouge.

The latest to close there was Gabe's LaFonda spin off.
What was this? I miss gabe at La Fonda. We never had to wait when he was there

Why is that funny?
Gee.. I dunno.. 70%+ of my menu is Italian.. but Italian isn't what I do best.. Please.. Stop.

Their Italian is good, very good.
But their steaks, fish and special dishes are what they do best.
I don't know why that seems funny.

He called it "Baco's Taco's"
It was basically his answer for La Fonda "letting him go" or whatever you want to call it. His first mistake was buying/leasing that god awful looking building where Serranos tried to open. Atmosphere is a huge part of dining experience and that place has none.
Second, he rushed to get the place open which backfired on him. His staff was undertrained and the service was terrible.
Figured ole Gabe had learned something at La Fonda but apparently he didn't learn shite.

Well I guess if you counted every different pizza...
The pork cheeks and lobster Mac and cheese alone are worth stopping in for.
Ruffinos wine list won't be touched in Lafayette and I guarantee he will sell barrels of it and at great prices I might add.
Y'all just go and enjoy it and don't try to kill it before it comes out the chute. The owners are experienced and good at what they do and are willing to put their nuts on the line to bring something they think Lafayette will appreciate and patronize. And local owners to boot. shite everyone bitches about the chains and how we need more local and bitch when a local tries to do something. Just get off your arse and enjoy a night out.

That was a cool picture! I would stare at it and imagine each person's story.

Check out Ziggy's near Le Triomphe. Gabe will seat you and the food is very good diner fare.

Thank you. They took "be fruitful and multiply" vow seriously..
LSUAfro.. and whomever.. To say that the Italian portion of the menu is not the best thing on the menu, when you're praising a predominantly Italian restaurant is insulting, if not moronic.

I will guarantee you, if it's a good restaurant location, I will be here more than most of the people that are posting about it.
