Not to mention they dominate the handheld market.
They are already losing their grip on this and will continue to do so unless they start making cell phones and tablets soon.

Everyone bought a WiiU then after a month or two the gimmick wore off
I'd be pretty bored of my console after a month or two if it had no games to play as well. At this point all it has is the gimmick. People were saying the same shite about the 3DS and once it got some games out the sales started to roll in.
Right now the only WiiU games out that are worth a crap and aren't cross-platform ports are MH3U and Injustice. One of those is a very niche genre and the other is a fighting game. Not exactly console moving software (though by all reports, Capcom is pleased with MH3U sales).

Until phones get buttons or games with actual depth, there will always be a place for true handheld gaming.
eta2:
The DS launched ~December 2004 and had 35.61 million units sold by the end of December 2006 (2 years of sales).
The 3DS launched ~March 2011 and has 31.09 million sales by the end of March 2013 (2 years sales).
The 3DS is barely behind the pace set by the best selling handheld of all time (and 2nd best selling console of all time), yet you claim they are losing the market.

I'm sorry for speaking some truth. Would it make you feel better if I started sucking off the PS4 as hard as you are?
Yes, at least that's a real gaming system and you wouldn't look so awful trying to fanboy the god awful Wii U.

Well played Hog, well played.

I admit to being a Nintendo fanboy, but I'd hardly call myself a WiiU fanboy. I don't have one and still have no definitive time frame for when I will get one (E3 will likely determine that). I just know that it has good games on the way and those games are worth the purchase of the console.
At this point in time the only reason to buy a console is for the exclusives. Everything else I can play on PC. Myself and many others happen to enjoy Nintendo exclusives.

I don't know how you can say that about a machine that's already sold 30 million.
Tablets and smartphones will never replace dedicated game handhelds unless the landscape changes dramatically in smartphone development.

Ultimatehog, since you brought it up, if you think the playstation anything is a real gaming system, I doubt you've come within a quarter mile of a gaming pc.
Oh how I wish I was 12 again thinking consoles were the future.

Correct, don't even own a desktop, just a high end laptop. Have probably 300-400 hours on Diablo 3, 20-30 hours on Crysis 3, and beat The Darkness 2 which wasn't that long. About it for my PC gaming in the past year.
Not a big fan of PC gaming, don't have any IRL friends that play on a PC to game, yet about all of my friends own a PS3/360 and if I'm not playing with friends I don't care to game too much. Also hate a mouse and keyboard, can't beat a controller (yes I know you can use them on PC's).

Well they kind of are the future, more powerful consoles push the envelope forward for developers on all platforms.

No it is more like outdated consoles hold development back for games on all platforms.

If you don't the think the PS4/720 push development further for all platforms (minus the Wii U) then idk what to tell you.

He's saying that when PS4/720 drop they will be outdated relative to gaming PCs and a 7 or 8 year life cycle of outdated hardware on consoles keeps devs from being too innovative until the next console drops.

The PS4/720 push development further after the PS3/360 held it back for years.
Consoles in general have also made the FPS genre into one of cheap thrills when we used to have classics. There's more bad FPS games out there than shitty pornos in a north baton rouge adult store.

Thankfully those outdated platforms have kept outrageously high budgets that have sunk dozens of developers and publishers somewhat lower than they could be.

I don't play games on my phone or a tablet. I really don't see the appeal of it currently unless you are playing a game that is just for time consumption purposes when you are bored. I would much prefer to play one of my handhelds.
My opinion will not change as long as "mobile devices" are only touch screen interface. And I doubt they will be adding a bunch of buttons to the iPhone anytime soon.
Or touch screen gaming gets a lot better than what it is now.

Winner.
The Wii did more positive things for video games than the PS3 or 360. Maybe they didn't stick, but keeping production costs low was important.
With that said, the WiiU is still a crapshoot of a console, I don't know what Nintendo is really thinking at this point. Maybe a 4-year life cycle? I just don't know. Or an "overpowered" console later on that meets the PS4/Durango?

Yeah, aside from teenage boys who think EA games are badass, he's not going to receive any love for this and will likely regret those words. Sounds like an egotistical douche.

Why would the largest game company stop making consoles and license their games out to competitors? Dude is an idiot.
"Not whoring yourself out" is a foreign concept for the great minds at EA.

Nintendo is simply fricked on the wii u. Plain and simple. Lack of games is something that can only be remedied by releasing a killer app and I don't see any in sight for the wii u.

Isnt that the pot calling the kettle black much?
