You guys can argue his talents, measurables, ability to play from day one, so on and so forth. But...
None of that has anything to do with where HE wants to go to school and play football, which is the topic here.
To think that a 7-8 page thread is not going to splinter into multiple topics is a bit naive, especially when this thread is not just about one player.
But, as I understand the situation currently, LSU wants him and would accept his commitment right now. But he, or someone close to him, are doing everything they can to set up an alternative for him. And from the looks of it, every alternative has a similar characteristic. They don't play in the SEC.

project, I agree and can't help but believe that quinn is looking at the wrs on LSU board and is not that interested in all the competition. also, the best place for a kid to go to college is the place that can help him achieve his major goals. there is no reason to believe playing for a spread offense is better than playing in a pro stlye offense in the eyes of the nfl people.

Of course it's gonna splinter, just saying, his talent and accomplishments aren't in question. He's great.
And fwiw, you are totally on the right track with the "someone close to him" angle.

no
Barbe throws a ton of balls, Quinn compiles a lot of yards because they have an outstanding QB that is exceptional at keeping plays alive with his feet and Quinn is unguardable in broken field plays. That does not necessarily translate to a high major div 1 pro style offense so he will have a newcomer learning curve in running disciplined routes and reading defenses.
not to mention there will be physically mature seniors and juniors ahead of him that he will have to beat out.

I cant see how Quinn is not a must get.
It sucks that we would take (as Jimmy D has alluded) these out of state guys over him.

well that pretty much debunks the "he just gets open alot on busted plays because his QB is mobile" argument.
I want quinn in this class. The kid is 6'-6'1 near 200 lbs runs 4.4, has dominated 5A comp and camps. what else does this kid have to do? Drop out of HS and join the CFL before people realize he is legit?

agreed i would take quinn over blacknall or upchurch, easily.
there's nothing wrong with having your entire WR class comprised of LA boys.

that is not what I said
he is going to break the yardage record because he is a great HS WR, he has an excellent QB, they throw it a ton and his QB runs around like a jack rabbit behind the LOS keeping plays alive and Quinn is a beast on broken plays. That doesnt mean the yardage record is some sort of automatic he is a freshman starter at LSU.
I have seen him play several times, he makes great plays running called routes but a ton of his yards are almost playground football.

sign with LSU and produce at the SEC level? everyone is a question mark until they play at the college level

I didnt say it was. That would be pretty dumb.

what size is he?
I think he's being overlooked by some but hopefully not our coaches.

he's at least 6'0".
ive seen him in person, last May at Tulane for the state title baseball game, and again in the Superdome in December.
He's bigger than Noil is, that is for sure.
6'0" or 6'1"

This is entertaining to say the least, wow. Let me see if I understand all of these posts:
1. He is not that interested in competiton.
2. He is not around 6-6'1" and 200 lbs.
3. He only gets open because of playground style football.
4. He is looking for an alternative besides LSU.
Interesting stuff. Sounds like you guys really know what you are talking about, you must be "insiders".

4 is correct. 2&3 are not. 1 is up for debate.

the way I look at it is that when we get the guys weare after then we won't miss quinn. now, we might not miss any one wr in this class not named williams. if quinn wants in he can get in today but we likely will not save a spot for him until october on. we will save a spot for dupre and noil but we will have williams, blacknall and upchurch committed in the event we miss on any of the 3 in state stars. good strategy.

his best friend, Kennon Fontenot, is going to oklahoma state...this could play a big part
Posted on 5/13/13 at 4:28 pm to redfieldk717
not a racially motivated comment but you don't normally see talented white kids from la. with connections to LSU (parent, sibling at LSU) play around with LSU like quinn is. there is something that is pulling him away from LSU or he would be committed by now. not saying where he will end up but I would have thought he would be right behind clapp in committing.

I stood next to him Saturday and he is 5'11, believe it or not. Not that it really matters that much. I call BS on the 200 lbs number as well.

no doubt about that, I have my doubts about Noil ever playing WR at LSU for that very reason

okie state loves them some white receivers. A good friend of mine currently plays WR there and hes white
