seems they have been drilling for 2 years. Now i hear they are closing down price lake road for a time. Did they stop drilling or are they going THAT far down?

From a meeting I attended last summer, it was planned to take 365 days. More than likely there has been some setbacks and caused some delays. I have not heard any updates on progress.
Well was planned for 30,000+ft. Not sure if it will be a record, but first well on land that I have heard of going that deep.

According to this link, they are drilling for Lower Wilcox. The well was originally planned for a depth of 29000', but a couple of months ago they updated their permit to deepen the well to 30500'.
As of the May 6th report, they were still drilling at 29426', which would suggest at least another month of drilling at the rate they are going.

Yes, it's an experimental well and price lake rd closing its because of the rig

Negative hoss, McMoran is in the process of drilling record wells, or they were, may be a record for land though if thats what you mean. Just remembered that two of them ended up being dry holes or they couldn't get them flowing, cant remember, so not sure if they are continueing with the project.

Who is the rig for? That is deep for a land rig.

If they have had a birthday for drilling a well, something has gone terribly wrong.

The pressures and temps they are dealing with at those depths are crazy and a first in the industry. Hell Cameron set up a whole team and facility just for this project.

Drilled one in the Tuscaloosa off the old mississippi river bridge down to 32,000ft.

When and for who? McMoran had plans to drill one down close to 35000 but I think that is getting canned after fricking there two first wells all up. They have one a little over 32k but its fricked.

Yep mcMoran is down to 2-3/8". Lol.

Was this recent? Probably had a lengthy horizontal leg, so as far as footage it is in the same category, but temperature and pressures would be totally different.
For this well Chevron contracted Unit Drilling rig #201, old rig built in 1981, wasn't used much, but it is one of the bigger land rigs ever built. See link on ultra-deep activity in the area. LINK With record information.
To be accurate, all of these records are in regards to land wells. I may be wrong but all of the McMoran stuff was offshore....

Yea theres are all shallow water stuff, they do have 32% ownership in the Chevron well.

It's another ultra deep Wilcox well that is likely destined for the same fate as Davy Jones.
And I'd like to get the name if the tusc well drilled to 32k... I'm skeptical.

The tusc is not that deep around Baton Rouge...

Skeptical too. I can't imagine a horizontal being drilled to 32000' md. I don't think that's possible with today's technology.
