Cult comedies. They said they're going for broad appeal now aka the CBS model

Going away from what?
Narrowcast, quirky, cult shows. They want broad, mass appeal.

The cult model has always worked for Fox since their inception and now they have some shows that are the greatest in the history of TV. Not sure why other networks can't get it to work.

I liked 1600 Penn, but I only watched a few episodes and don't even know what day it came on.

I was never a big fan of "The Office" or "Parks and Rec". The first was just a little too dry and awkward for my tastes. The latter was strange for me in that nearly every actor on the show I find funny in everything else they've ever done, except on this show. I don't understand it. Also, I don't care for Amy Pohler, so maybe it's that.

Should've cancelled Whitney after the first season. Terrible terrible television.

Haven't heard of any of those

It has everyone else optimistic too. TV Line moved Community from "too early to tell" to "could go either way" to "a safe bet" just a few minutes ago.

Community is also sitting at 84 episodes. So, if it gets picked up, look for Sony to push for at least a 16 ep order instead of the normal 13 for a short season.
The problem for Community though is that NBC gains nothing from its post-first-run avenues. Sony is the studio, NBC only captures ad revenue. So some sort of ratings still need to justify their existence.
But I agree it looks good for them. NBC still needs to fill programming hours.
