Should have done this in the first place. Pulling for him

At least he can still play another sport.

Man, we were talking about this exact situation Saturday at the game. Good luck to you Chad. I can't wait to see that nasty curve ball again!

Mississippi State 09. I was there.

One of the true greats- a national championship ring in football and baseball.
How many other athletes in LSU history can claim national championships in two sports?
Edited to add: Jared Mitchell.
How could I forget?

so what about Mewelde Moore, who played professional baseball while playing college football at Tulane?

What are u talking about? Hes a lefty, his left leg is fricked. Pitchers use their legs, where do u think the power comes from?
If gms and coaches didnt give him a shot because they worried about contact, i can understand. But if its about the strength of the leg, hes gonna have a hard time pitching.
No knock on chad, this is truly amazing regardless if he plays ptofessional spirts or not.

Signed with an agent and was drafted into the NFL, therefore he lost his amateur status
You're wrong boss. He lost his amateur status in football.
quote:This is correct.
He has an eligibility clock that starts when he enrolled in school. To my knowledge it is 5 years to play 4.
There is no chance Chad Jones will come back to LSU.
Good luck to Chad with his baseball career though.

5 to play 4 is why. Nothing to do with an agent or whatever. Several guys have been amateur in one and pro in the other.

you get 10 consecutive semesters starting the day you enroll to play 4 seasons. regardless of him going pro in football those 10 semesters have come and gone. there is absolutely no possible way for him to even gain 1 day of eligibility

Good luck to him in baseball.

If I recall correctly, booty actually enrolled THEN played baseball. His clock was ticking while he was playing baseball then he came back for a short football career.

i know its 5 year clock.
people were acting like a player has never played a professional sport as well as CFB

Which is exactly what I just said.

I do not believe that is correct. Booty signed with LSU in Feb. and was drafted by the Marlins in May. He never enrolled at LSU and went straight to the Marlins organization. Plus, he had another year of eligibility left at LSU in 2000, but saw that he would have been competing with Rohan for PT after the Peach Bowl, so he got out while his stock was fairly high (won SEC Offensive POY).

Josh Dworacyck had 10 to play 9 so don't tell me Jones can't play. Josh was a few years from social security when he quit playing.
