Upcoming Braves roster decisions

With McCann's return, we have already seen one interesting roster move take place with the decision to carry three catchers. There are several Braves on the DL right now, including four pitchers (Martinez, Ayala, Venters, Beachy), as well as Jason Heyward. Heyward is due back in about ten days, Beachy is due back next month, and the other guys have yet to establish a timetable for their return.
When Heyward comes back will Schafer be DFA'd or traded? Does he even have any trade value? When Beachy returns, does Teheran go to AAA, or to the bullpen? Is it too early to speculate on these roster decisions? What do you think?

Schafer would probably have a mental breakdown if the Braves traded him twice in less than 3 seasons

While by time Heyward comes back they would have put BJ on DL due to him hitting under .200. So that won't be an issue.....

Schafer has been way too valuable in his roll thus far to be traded. I'd hate to see him even be sent down the way he is playing now. Maybe when Heyward comes back we can make up some sort of injury for BJ and sideline him for a few weeks to get his head back on straight. The fans wouldn't love it, but if Gattis starts slumping as pitchers adjust to him he'd be an option to be sent down to make room for Heyward too. Teheran will probably go to AAA once Beachy is back, but could certainly move to the pen if there's a need there. I'd just think that they'd want him pitching every fifth day still. The Braves do have some interesting decisions to make, but it's a good problem to have.

If Schafer was traded, it'd be after he was DFA'd. When Heyward comes back and making the big assumption that there aren't any more injuries, it'll either be DFA Schafer or Gattis to AAA. I think Gattis should go to AAA, but who knows what the Braves will do
I didn't think Beachy was due back until the All Star Break...they'll take it easy with him, especially if Teheran remains serviceable. Julio should go to AAA when Beachy is ready, again assuming everyone stays healthy

If Teheran continues to progress, it will be a shame to send him down, even though it is the right thing to do. I doubt it would happen, but if we have six starters all pitching well, I wouldn't mind seeing the Braves try and trade Maholm at the deadline. I don't think he will be back next season, as he has probably pitched himself out of the Braves budget.
As to Schafer, he has played well and I would hate to see him go, but it would be best for him if he had the opportunity to play every day. He still hasn't proven he can be consistent in an every day role, but he has shown the ability to take a walk and has a much better approach at the plate.

PUT GATTIS AT SECONDBASE DUH.
He's just like Prado, only slight bigger.

Remember at the start of the season when everyone wanted to trade McCann?

Schafer can't play anywhere everyday though.
Pitching in the rotation at AAA is better than being in the bullpen pitching sporadically. The Braves won't trade Maholm because they're trying to win. Let him walk at the end of the year if you re-sign Hudson

I cut Reed Johnson and keep Gattis and Schafer.

Gotta keep Gattis in the bigs I think...Schafer has value as a 4th outfielder and pinch-runner...hmmmmm...I'd say trade do something with Laird, don't know his contract details though.

Gattis isn't hitting SO well that you can't option him.
I'd send him down, let him keep catching every day and improving in hopes he'll be your everyday catcher next year. Then bring him up with roster expansion.
Jordan Schafer really is a nothing ball player and 48 good PAs in 2013 doesn't really change my opinion of that. I don't think cutting him would be a big issue.

he is on pace to hit 30-40 and drive in 100
but no, I don't think he'll sustain it over the season

DFA Schafer or option Gattis. Either decision is fine with me.

Put your $75M free agent on the bench after one bad month?
