Beer Vending Machines

How come there aren't any (are there)? Seems like a convenient way to grab a beer at various locales. You could easily have an ID scanner for legality reasons.
Louisiana has a heavy drinking culture, so it could have some success. Any thoughts on why these aren't around?

I wouldn't want it to drop my beer and make it all foamy.

Knights of Columbus in Shreveport has one.

There's different types of vending machines, there's one in CEBA that grabs your powerade (rather than dropping it) and places it in the disposal area

In Quebec, it's no problem purchasing a brew along side a coke. This is a pic I took. You simply plug in a couple of bucks (or loons) and press a button. Out comes the can of beer, just like in the 70's when we had cigarette vending machines. There wasn't any ID carding, you simply inserted your money and selected your poison.

A couple of hotels I stayed at in Spain (and maybe Italy) had one or two beer options in their coke machine.

This was years ago. I'm sure they've since moved on to Zero Alive.

ages ago there was a Dixie vending machine at the driving range in the N.O. City Park. Great to hit a couple of buckets then a $.35 Dixie. Very popular when I was 14.

We had them in the barracks in 1971 at Ft Lewis, Washington (army).
All the barracks had one. Of course, it was military 3.4%? beer.

There is this one down in the CDB, though it is restricted by using tokens and all the beer is ruined by the UV light.

Vending machine service was pretty good at Ft Lewis. One thing I would have said about the Army. When it was safe to drink a low percent alcohol content beer, they were always faithful to provide them. Im my day, little 4 ciggy packs of ciggies in your c-ration box. Good brands too.
My favorite was always the little 2 shot bottles of Tobasco Sauce.
and cans of Pork roast.

That was probably the thing that surprised me the most about back streets of Tokyo - the number of beer vending machines, and a hundred other things for sale in vending machines on the street.
They had little two gulp cans of diet coke. My Japanses friends would laugh at me when I would stop, buy a can of diet coke and kill it in two gulps and then catch up with them as we walked down the street.
I could hear them saying the equivalent of "Oh look at the big round eyed guy with the Diet Coke addiction." in Japanese as they laughed at me.
I am still something of a folk hero in Japan (at least among the 30 people I worked with). The back story involves an earthquake and feats of old guy strength.
