Was just about to post this.
LaMarche is going to get drafted late on his velo alone and Mainieri will "advise" him to go.

I agree, DEPENDING on incoming pitching. It's unlikely LaMarche gets his control in college under...control. But if we rally arent bringing in much in the form of pitchers to replace him then ask him to stay.

Good call. You can let me know when I'm right.

Don't forget new guys like Reynolds, Newman, Butler, Sewald all getting another year of work under Dunn.

And thats without even looking at it from his perspective. He is a reliever so it isn't like he is going to be an early pick by coming back, he has been in school for 4 years, and he has already lost a season due to surgery. There is a good chance he'll want to start his career even without any encouragment.

The only thing keeping me from saying he is a "lock" to leave is the fact that he hit .223 his freshman year and is around the Mendoza line this season.
That may scare scouts just a tad, but I would say it's about 20-80 that he stays.

I heard from a family member of a player on the team that no matter where a Ross is drafted, he is gone. TIFWIW

I mean, it would be stupid to leave if he somehow falls to late 20's/early 30's.
If that happens, Mainieri needs to get Austin Nola on the phone with Ross.

I don't think Ross is going to drop anywhere near there so it shouldn't matter, but even if he did he could probably still get as much as Nola did. Under the new CBA college seniors are going to be picked in the top 10 rounds that would normally be lower because the money saved on their bonus can be used to sign other top, or expensive, picks.

Can anybody say who the current commits are that could be high on the boards besides the guy from Terrebonne?

Ross is batting so poorly, that he may be back next season.
Additionally, given the stress that catchers place on their knees, wouldn't coming out a year early be in Ross' best interests?

I think I had read Nick Longhi has an early round upside.

Jones, Eades and Ross are gone IMO unless the college experience is huge in their life.
I don't envision Ibarra going as high as many believe he may go. Still, he may go if the lure of money is great enough for him.

So the top of our lineup next year could be like this: 1.) McMullen 2.) foster 3.) Bregs 4.) Ibarra I can live with that
Had you guessed this year's lineup last year you wouldn't have had Ibarra or Bregman in it! Don't forget that we'll have some stud freshman coming.
