Ate at the one in Flowood Ms. It was very good and had a hot sauce bar.

I completely disagree and I like Firehouse. I keep them in my rotation because the hot sauce selection. The brisket sub is my go to.

For a chain they are OK but I prefer the bread, Italian meats and topping options at nearby Which Wich and my local mom and pop sandwich shop Lola's in Covington.

None of them touch Cochon Butcher or Steins Deli in Nola for sandwiches.

They don't match up with one of the best chef's places in NO? Shocking.

I compared it to chains first.

The point is local sandwich shops should be a viable option. Butcher, Steins and Lola, Martin's Wine are only $2 bucks more than a chain - though not as convenient. Vietnamese Bahn Mi and Mexican tortas can be had for less than chains.

Yep. Within 3 miles of the office we have Firehouse, Panera, Blimpies, Quiznos,Jersey Mike's,and of course the obligatory Subway. Firehouse finishes 3rd because of the condiments bar.
Local mom and pop sub shop here blows them all away but their service is slow so the chains have become necessary evils.
