Been there at least 5 times and have ordered to go 2 or 3 times, never had a complaint.

Damned by faint praise...

But it is what it is. A sandwich and fry house.

I'm not knocking Sammy's or the people who like it, it's just that we need more places that don't serve the same stuff we've been eating for 50 years. I think the people here are open minded and adventuresome enough to eat any quality product that is presented.

I'm in New England for a while and have had some nice dining experiences, but nothing in the last week, except the Boston Italian restaurants, has really wowed me. We have the collective palates in BR to have better restaurants, I think we settle for less too often.

Does this make sense to anyone?

I agree, but Sammy's is there to make money, and the areas they are in basically request what they serve. Simple food that no one is afraid of and a place dad can get a beer and kids can be a little loud.

The Pville location in question couldn't/wouldn't support 5 course plates. The demand isn't there.

For instance I know lots of people in the area that would try pho, Indian, anything beside chicken shwarma at a Greek place, rare steak, and raw fish.

Can't build a restaurat and wait until the clientele warm to it, Sammy's is the size it is because it is there to make money.

Sammy's has become a joke....I loved it before they enlarged the one on Highland...they ruined that one by:

Spreading out the food production making it average

getting rid of hot waitresses

busing in church groups of geriatrics

It used to be a cool sports bar/ restaurant with hot girls and good food.

I wish there was another sports bar in BR that knew HOW to boil crawfish.

PS: I tried to go to Sammy's on highland a few weeks ago on a Thursday at 7pm....hour and a half wait...in the pouring rain....people were waiting in the rain for that average food...BR SMH

Also, the second to last time I went...(5pm on a Saturday) they were out of Crawfish

Then they told us they were out of Iced Tea

Then they were out of the Fish

Then they told us they were out of SILVERWARE

It's crazy the lengths people will go for an average meal.

Sammy's in P-Ville is ok, nothing special...Props to them though. Like the other poster said, it looks like Sammy's is printing $$$.

well in this case, it's absolutly true...if you dont think so, You have no taste buds.

And that's not even always the case....I think Mike Anderson's has improved, Dominoes Pizza is 100x the pizza it was, I could go on...

Prairieville's food is noticeably different. The salads and burger are not as good as the highland location.

That said, they are still one of the better options in our area if you don't want to drive 20 minutes to get to the other location

I'll be driving the 20 minutes from now on. Really sucks because I always enjoyed the other locations and was excited to see them so close to the house.

You're complaining about Sammy's and pimping Dominoes? Give me a break. I've eaten at Sammy's since it opened and it's the same today as it was then. Whether you like it or not is a different story but the food is the same if not better.

And it's more families and kids than old people by a long shot.

Sammy's will have it's run then will fade into the background when the next huge seafood place opens. I've seen this movie before.
It's been open for like 20+ years. Probably closer to 30. That's a pretty good run so far.

Several years back Sammy's open a place on Jones Creek Rd. WE went there a few times only to finally leave. You could sit at the bar for 5 minutes and no one would come to see you. Finally closed. I live in Jackson now and find the Zachary location better than the others.

I've been going to Sammy's since he left George's and opened his place in the early 80's. The food is the same now as it was then. If you had 5 bad experiences then you either can't be pleased or aren't very bright to give your money away that many times.

I've been to Prairieville 4 times, never waited more than ten minutes and have had the same service and food as any other Sammy's. It's a fry house and sandwich shop and it's good at what it does and doesn't claim to be anything more.
