I'm going for Newegg. Although with AIB cards coming out the 25th there will be plenty of chances.
Personally I want the Asus LC 6800XT but I imagine those will be maybe the fewest stock so I'm just gonna go for one tomorrow.
I figure I can probably sell it and even make a profit doing so if I get the Asus LC next week and reference tomorrow.

Per Kyle Bennett
TLDR; Don't panic if you don't get a reference card tomorrow, AMD is backloading the inventory for AIB cards that come out the 25th.

What you are going to see will be different from what NVIDIA has done.
AMD MBA cards will be in short supply up front. However, where you saw NV front-load almost all its cards, AMD is backloading. Once AIB cards hit, you will see 5 to 7 times the inventory released than what NV has shipped total in NA at this time. AMD will be heavily back-loaded into the channel. AMD is shipping ASIC BOM kits nearly daily to AIBs at this point and it will continue to happen throughout Q4. There will be a decent supply through Q4.
Now let me say this again as it is worth hearing. There is no way that when AMD was doing its projections for supply, that it could have even fathomed that NVIDIA would totally shite the bed on 3080/90 supply for the quarter, effectively abandoning the $500 to $1000 GPU TAM. NVIDIA has left such a gaping hole in the market that there is no way it can be filled currently. From my information and analysis, AMD projected to grow its portion of the TAM and will have inventory to do that. The sad fact is that NV simply abandoned its customer in that market and there is no possible way for AMD to fill the void.

I am enjoying reading these shitstorm stories
quote:
TUSTIN Micro Center
Cops came because an older gent was 130+ on the list and wanted list masters to guarantee him a card or he'll flip.
That he did. Went to the manager, threaten/harassed him. Cops got called.
?
UPDATE: manager took away the list to say they'll honor the list shortly after. the older gent try to move being number 10 and then got pushed back all the way 50.
Next check in is 6:45pm, lets see what happens!
UPDATE 7:45PM: some people who wasn't on the list wanted to start a brand new list and have them in front LOL. That didn't go over smoothly. Now management is handing their "ticket" in line for a card. List masters are likely scalpers, the handling of it all is in itself a shite show.
UPDATE 9:00PM: they finally got around to giving people "tickets", their number in line. this is just for Big Navi, now i'm curious to see how much they really have. list shows 200+. only time will tell.
Until then, 5:30am people will show up again.

Those GN raytracing benchmarks are rough. Hopefully just a driver thing otherwise it's going to need another generation to be competitive there.

Tell your masters to have a legit release.

then just release everything on the 25th. what's so difficult about that? it's not like AMD is making a major profit from a paper launch today.

AIB cards never launch with reference.
Posted on 11/18/20 at 10:02 am to UltimateHog
that doesn't answer the "why", though.

Just how gpu launches have always worked. Reference drops first.
Posted on 11/18/20 at 10:36 am to UltimateHog
better get used to it. i have a feeling the AIB launch will be the same way.

5-7x more than Nvidia. But will still be hard to get yes even with a ton more.

by the time stock get's where it needs to be for everyone to have the ability to get one, the new cards are going to right around the corner for 2021.
