6900XT is a beast no doubt. DXR and DirectML are the future both PC and console.

Nice that’s my motherboard, now I just have to wait for my 5800x. I hear it runs hotter than the rest but it’ll be in a mesh case so it should have plenty of air.

Looks like I'll probably grab one too. Or 5900X.

Same here, think I'm going after the 5900X to upgrade this 3900X.
Usually not into cpu upgrades this soon, but, when I do start back gaming, I need that improved IPC.

Considering the 5600 to go along with the 6800XT. Could get crazy and go 6900XT. All I do on my CPU is work from home and play games, so don’t really think I need anything more than a 5600, correct?

I think it's worthwhile to get Zen 3 if you're getting Big Navi. Quite a bit more performance when paired together.

building a new PC
running a 6800/1080gtx, havent upgraded for 3 or 4 years.
Not the most up to date with all the parts, but do know i wanna go AMD/AMD,and I'm a ASUS ROG fan.
Here is what i was thinking about, but i'll admit im not sure about the RAM/CPU cooler, but this is what im looking at so far. Still wanna wait and read up some benchmarks on the 5900x and AMD GPUs to decide on 6800xt or 6900. Any advice is appreciated.
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
ASUS ROG 6800XT(May go 6900, but if 6800XT is competing with 3090)
Aorus Master x570 MOBO - LINK
Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 2tb - LINK
Crucial Ballistix MAX 4400mhz ddr4 DRAM 2x16gb LINK
NZXT kraken 273 360MM LINK
I also like ASUS ROG Ryuo LINK
NZXT H710 Case LINK

Y’all think a 6800xt is overkill for a 8700k 1080p system? Trying to get highest frames possible on my 240hz
Might just go 3070 since it’s cheaper at 499 and 6800 is 549.

if the 6800xt can be OC to push 3090, i'd pay the extra 50$

AMD Radeon RX 6800 overclocked to average 2.5 GHz
Damn, looking like it's gonna be true. OC monsters. $649 for 3090 performance is wild.

Looks good. That's what I'd go with. Could maybe save a bit with 4000MHz ram as Zen 3 tends to top out at 4000 for gains.

Any benefit to going with one of the more premium mobo options? I’ve settled on some form of a AMD 5000 series processor and a 6800XT for my build and was wondering if there’s any real benefit from going outside out the ~$200 price point for the mobo.

Really 3800/1900 FCLK is the sweet spot, lots of lower frames on the 4000/1900 FCKL because people cant get the FCLK to 2000 stable. Even the 3600/1800 FCLK seems to do as good if not better in most cases than 4000/1900.
Think Gamers nexus found the same thing, 3600/1800 and 3800/1900 the sweet spot. I wouldn't waste money on 4000 over 3600 or 3800 RAM.
Price/performance still seems around that 3600 CL 16 mark as those are about $75 or so right now for 2x8 kit. The price jump up to 4000 RAM is pretty ridiculous from there.
