Neighbor's Dog Attacked By Coyotes

Sad story - neighbor's had a Jack Russell that was pretty old. They let him out before heading to bed last night and he started barking at something in the backyard and took off. Neighbor said all hell broke loose and he ran out to see what was happening. Appears as if one coyote was up close and got the dog to chase him, and several more were waiting just inside the woods and they all jumped on the dog when he got close enough. Neighbor chased them off and the dog was alive, but died on the way to the vet.
I am heading out tonight with the .22, light and a predator call to see if I can at least get some retribution. Anyone have any other suggestions for how to kill them? I thought about putting some meat out for a couple nights in a row and hunting over it. Semi-large tract of woods behind our houses so I don't even know if they will still be in the area. TIA

Thats some stone cold shite right there.
You can get a decoy too, or some old meat might work for bait.

if they hadnt been hunted you will have success calling them... but if you wana get them... trap them, footholds.

The only viable solution here is tannerite.

also camo up good and hide good. they are smarter than you think "if you have never done it before" they will always circle down wind, they will be very cautious. and if you are using a call thats in your hand or lap stop it soon as you get a visual on the coyote because they will nail you fast and be out. and if doing it at night use a red lense on your light, you can kill them as easy in the afternoon or morning also

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm in Oxford, MS and live just outside of town. I will probably swing by and look at getting a couple footholds. The neighbors on the other side have two toddlers and are freaked out. Otherwise I will just head down and stake out a spot this afternoon/evening with a red lens and the Nylon 66 and smoke any eyes that come to the call.

Bit too far for me, good luck. Kill em all

If you don't know anything about trapping, you'll be wasting your time.

Piece of chicken, decent size treble hook, string, and a sturdy tree branch. Tie hook about 3ft off the ground.
We had one come up on our back porch and get my kids cat.

Hate to hear that...
I read stories like these all the time and hear of coyotes working as packs/teams. It occured to me that in all the time I've been hunting and with having seen dozens of coyotes that 95% of the yotes I've seen have been by themselves. I've never seen more than 2 at any time. Am I alone here?
