Was it as packed as it appeared? Pretty encouraging if so. I've been out of town, has this been the norm?

GrandeBelli may have an opinion on the matter , but, yes, the crowd looked great.

I only saw about 5 minutes of the game last night and it wasn't all at once. I kind of assumed this was a troll post when I first saw it. Was the crowd really better?

Was a nice crowd. Way too many celtics fans in the arena. Was so happy we pulled it out so the home team could get some love. There was more noise for Boston than us for a while and when they made a late run in the fourth or was kind of absurd.

Packed about as much as it has been all season. Miami will be full next Friday. Laker game had as many peeps.

crowd was 50/50 Celtics and Hornets fans

Was pisted at the end hearing Celtics fan cheering when they went up before ADs tip in.

When we beat the Celtics last year in the home opener some dude in his 50s tried to fight me.after the game. His friends had to hold him back and drag him out of the Arena. These guys weren't trashy, they looked like lawyers who lived uptown. It was probably VOR.

Of course, you guys do realize that the same thing happens in a lot of other arenas around the league when the Lakers, Celtics and Heat come to town, right? In fact, SVP was talking about it on his show the other day.

If you guys think 14,700 is a great crowd which was half celtic fans then we got problems

He'll be here this afternoon. He is sleeping in because he was too stricken with anxiety to fall asleep at a decent hour last night.

NOLA had a lot going on this year. I think it effected attendance. Traffic pre-SuperBowl was outrageous at times getting to arena.
By the time it settled, the team was out of it. Not saying its the entire reason but it contributes.
If you don't think that those 3 teams will draw well you don't know NBA.

A lot of real life talk in here.

If someone really said "man I don't feel like going the Hornets game because of traffic" then they are the fricking laziest person ever

This is the issue. New Orleans is a small city with relatively small incomes. People bashed me when I said, but putting the arena in the CBD makes it a bitch to get to when you're coming from out of town. Given that only about 10% of the city is above the poverty line, attracting the "nearbys" makes a lot of sense.

Agreed Jester. During SB/MardiGras it was a mess. Opted out of several game.

And furthermore- the "near by fans" such as myself are plenty. On top of that, my employer is a huge Hornets coorporate sponser. Lots of bayou folk make the hour-hour and a half commute.

Again, i couldnt agree more.

Wow, didn't know there were 7,350 Celtic fans in the entire states of Louisiana and Mississippi, much less at one Wednesday night basketball game in downtown N.O.
