My mom works for the city of Ville Platte and had some recycling project today .. we were nearby fo a tennis match so my son and I stopped by to say hi.

She introduces me to this TALLLLLLL man ... Nikita Wilson. I'm 43 and went to LSU but started there in 1988 ... the name was VERY familiar but I didn't want to say "were you the LSU basketball player". My mom goes on to say "he played basketball for LSU".

I KNEW I knew that!!!

He was extremely nice and well spoken ... you could so tell that he WANTED to talk about his days at LSU. He relived that last missed shot in Indiana ... was in early high school at the time and vaguely remember LSU almost getting into the Final Four.

Not sure exactly who he works for but some recycling something ... and he runs a kids program/mentor type thing. He talked about wanting them to know more than just basketball. Talked about the recruiting process AND about the "orientation program" that they had for the new NBA players.

He talked with my son a bit (15 yo, freshman) about academics and good sportmanship. He was so so pleasant ... glad I got the opportunity to meet him!

And yes, my mom had a camera so she took a pic for us ... and YES I'm going to get it to him to autograph to add to our LSU colletion.

I know ... :csb: ... but for my and my son, it was. Moms don't often fall into such cool things!

Cool. I was in school when he was here. I really enjoyed when he played for the Tigers.

Nikita is similar to all of the players that played for Dale Brown. They all are involved in their communities and mentoring kids, etc.

Fess Irvin lost that game to IU to advance to the final 4. I was very mad after that game. The team came from no where and had it wrapped up. Missed free throws and I think a turnover in the last minute did us in.

I was at that game in Cincinnati. He made the shot, it just didn't beat the buzzer.

T I think he's saying that the shot didn't beat the buzzer ... I looked up articles when I got hoem and one for sure said it wouldn't have mattered as he shot after the buzzer.

He talked a lot about how awesome Dale was ... you'd do something wrong and get called into his office and dread the worst but Dale would end up with a story from his life that tied it to the current situation and it wasn't the beatdown that you thoguht you'd get.

NW was one of my favorite players back then. As someone said, dude was silky smooth on the court.

Yea we had Indiana beat and should have been in the Final Four.
