Tim Duncan, Dirk, Kobe, CP3, Blake Griffin, KD, KG, Shaq, DWade, Nash, etc. vs Magic, Reggie Miller, Hakeem, Clyde Drexler, Kobe, Shaq, Stockon, Ewing, The Admiral, IT, Malone, etc. Lebron is great, but I just don't just seem being what he is if he played in MJ's era. He'd make an AG or two, but only for the dunk contest or as a reserve.

Does anybody even have to bring up the issue with comparing players of different eras? I mean, C'mon.

too obvious

Rewrite: While Lebron's physical abilities obviously transcend the generational gap between he and Jordan's NBA, the bevy of superstars from the NBA's glory years would reduce him to a poor man's Magic Johnson.

I RA'd to name this board the "LJ vs. MJ" board.

It's really gotten old. I'm headed over to the soccer board for some entertainment.

Yes players don't go to college and develop for 3-4 years anymore. Just look at Kobe how great he is, when he was a rookie dude averaged 7 points. Today players out of highschool or one year of college consistently average well into double figures

I see you left off about 40 players from the last few years in the NBA

yeah, being built like karl malone but playing like magic definitely would not have passed in the 90's NBA

IMHO, I think the NBA was stronger as a whole during Jordan's era. There are a number of reasons for this though.

1.) More even teams
2.) More physical play
3.) Better officiating (in my opinion)
4.) Players had more developed games (in my opinion)
* Just look at the power forwards and centers then compared to now.

This does not mean that players today could not have been successful, obviously they would have to adjust, something i'm not sure they could all do.

For example, no way Griffin and D. Howard could get away with the flopping and limited offensive game that they have.

However Tim Duncan, Kobe, Dirk, CP3, Westbrook, James, Wade, could definitiley play in that era.

There are plenty of very talented PF/Cs in the league, they just play a different style now than they did then. Ultra skilled PF/Cs as well. They're just mostly stretch bigs rather than low post scorers. That doesn't mean their games are undeveloped though.

True, you simply can't forget about to add Brandon Beal on a list of great NBA players!!!

I don't think it's weaker, the players just play a different style. The game is focused around offensive production. Back in the day, they actually played a much higher level of defense IMO. I think most of the HOF players would average a triple double for an entire season if not career with the way the rules are now.

This is where i disagree. LeBron is just as good as those guys, It's the rules I think that would take him down a few notches, unless he could handle the physical nature of the 80's-90's NBA. That's why I think Jordan would absolutely destroy the NBA in this era with the way the rules are set up.

Agreed. It is a scoters league now a days.

Forget what would LBJ do in Jordan's era. What would Jordan be able to do in this era
