I wipe my arse with stuff that costs that much brah.
I also run a 4.11 40 and can bench 225 lbs 89 times on a bad day, though.

That was a cool video. Use to collect. Seemed like 2 or 3 becketts a year had that card on the cover.

Very cool. I am a collector, and enjoyed the hell out of that.

Collector here. Pretty familiar with the story. Love the T206 cards. I'd like to start a small collection one day.

I love stories like this. Baseball will always be number one to me. Just a different time.

i miss the card collecting days. been 20 years for me. it's a shame it went to shite.
they say to collect for fun, but with the money it costs to buy them and a market that will "lie" to you on limited editions, inserts, etc., just aint worth it.

The hobby is better now. Ripping wax is still gonna be a losing proposition most times but the market is strong. I find it easy to find good deals and flip cards.

I actually have a Honus Wagner card from around 1910 but its not the t206. Its t208 I believe. Havent looked at it years though. When I bought it, it was valued at about 2000.00.

My little brother is doing this again. He's working with football cards and selling them as fast as he can open them. Sold one for $300 the other day.
Meanwhile, every 25 year old card I have in hard plastic is worth a buck fiddy.

I got back in the hobby in 2009. I actually did pretty well with busting boxes, but stopped buying wax in early 2011 since these companies (a la Panini and Topps) started churning out these awful products which you would be lucky to break even on. Though, the thing I've noticed the most about people in the online hobby community is that many collectors have no self control. Panini and Topps don't have to put a ton of effort into a product since they know that collectors will pay the $100+ for it, no matter what.
Anyways, I got out the hobby last spring. I enjoyed buying/flipping singles a lot, but it just got too expensive. Selling was a pain in the arse sometimes. You get lowballed by morons on a hobby website, and get nickel and dimed by eBay's fees. Too much of a headache. That said, I'll probably be back in the hobby soon enough.
