Trout, in high schook, Newman had a guy named Jeremy Bleich (sp?) That was a lefty and threw in the mid 90s.. kid was unreal and signed with Stanford..
he smoked me in my back and although it didn't hurt at first, when I went to CF next inning, I could barely lift my arm

That is bringing the heat! I only faced a few guys that were legitimate 90's. one was a 6'6" black guy but I can't remember his name. I tipped it and was happy
I think Robert Ellis threw that hard and he pegged me but it hit me in the hip so it didn't hurt. I heard he pitched for the diamondbacks but don't hold me to that...going to google

You crow hopped and threw 80
You do realize that you can throw faster with a crow hop than a wind-up?

quote:bullshite. The number of people who can consistently top 80mph is very limited. There are less than 350 pitchers in MLB, and most have fast balls in the 80's. In high school Randy Johnson would only rarely throw a 90mph pitch, but he was throwing high 80's consistently.
I've got ~98 off a mound

not sure about the numbers but this sounds ab right
I was fortunate, in high school I could touch 89-90 but that was rare.. I was consistently around 82-85
I was blessed, I could also throw a football pretty far too

no, probably not

probably like 86. I had a strong arm in high school and I've gotten taller and more athletic since then... at the same time i haven't played in like 3 years so it isn't gonna blow you away.

I never could throw hard but my throws always had a weird late break. i always felt like with the proper coaching to learn to repeat the motion and control the break I could have been a decent HS/small college pitcher.

RH
I threw a ball that had a late drop down and away from a RH batter and another ball that had a late rise up into a RH batter (up and away from a LH batter). I could manipulate it by changing the pressure on my grip
when I played softball we used to warm up and dick around and I could do some whacky shite with that softball getting it to move late.

What do you consider limited? I played at a small high school and there were 4 of us that all sat between 81-86 (We used the radar guns like 3 times a week). Trust me I'm not bull shitting I don't care what people online think of me. I'm 6' 155 wet, I love Harry Potter, I've never benched over 190 in my life, I lost my virginity at age 17. If that proves my credibility
None of us went on to play in college, throwing in the low-mid 80's isn't THAT rare for an athletic person who's played baseball their whole life
We did win the state title my senior year

Pitching is virtually all about movement .. especially late movement .. you can have mid 90s velocity, but if you have no movement at all, you'll get tattooed .. 90 MPH with movement and you'll have more success .. Someone could have worked on your mechanics .. Add some velocity to your ball movement and it gets interesting .. As tall as you are, someone could've coached up your velocity ..

I agree (and am a good example of this)
