Every expert at the time agreed it was the right pick
As I've written before, Frank DeFord went on CNN sports and said the Bulls shouldn't be complaining about picking #3, since Michael Jordan might turn out to be pretty good himself.

Ah. Thanks. I just remember feeling so bad for him.
I just re-watched it. God that was awful. Kid had to be peeled off the floor by the rest of the team. I can't imagine what he was feeling

You saying Bartman is me like saying Jeffrey Maier is the reason the Os lost the ALCS. Yes he is a load his mom should have swallowed, but the Os had plenty of chances after that.

Colorado football - 5 downs
This one gets forgotten much more than Osbourne's call. And this was a far bigger screwup.

Man, O's got screwed on crappy calls in back to back ALCS's. Garcia screwed up the Maier call (and he's far more at fault than the kid) and the Grissom bunt in 1997. Damn, now I'm ticked off.

I agree with this. The better team DID NOT win that series.
Bartman anyone???????

The 5th down was early in the season. And Colorado should never have been given the chance to compete for a NC.
Thank God for the AP. A favorite memory is McCartney speaking to a pep rally after the NC game, being handed a piece of paper, and glumly announcing, "Georgia Tech won the AP by one vote".

The ump who fricked up the perfect game

Bartman isn't close. Not his fault they continued to choke.
Alex Gonzalez is the forgotten Buckner. He fricked that play up so bad. Plus I know a chick that went to HS with him and said he was a douche.

I don't believe 100% anything would have worked, but you don't just take an arse beating in an NC game either.
I might have pulled 10 redshirts in that game.

I blame baseball for that as much as the ump. It should have been reversed. Should be reversed.
The late Milt Pappas of the Cubs claimed he was robbed of a perfect game in the early '70s when a strike was called a ball.

I think it's the best thing to happen to Gallaraga, who would've been completely forgotten had that call not have cost him a perfect game. Instead of being a footnote, his imperfect game will be remembered forever.
Also, Joyce was the height of professionalism and acted precisely how an umpire should act after making a bad call. He admitted his mistake, made no excuses, and immediately went out to face the music. Mistakes happen, but he handled his worst professional moment with a great amount of class. It's why Joyce is such a highly regarded umpire despite now being famous for a bad call.

This +1000. Lucky SOB skated while Bartman took the heat from the mouthbreathers and meatheads.
I know more White Sox fans who love Gonzalez than Cubs fans who hate him.

Roy Jones Jr. getting absolutely jobbed by the South Koreans in the Olympic Gold Medal bout in 1988. There's nothing else close.
