The Mist

Watched it last night
It was better than I thought it would be. The creatures were pretty freaky....although I have always had a small case of arachnaphobia.
Brutal ending.
At the beginning I was like, "did frank darabont watch this movie when casting the walking dead?"
Until I saw he made the movie.

The movie ending is a serious mind frack but the book ending is worse because the mist never goes away.

Pretty sure they just drive and drive and the mist never ends.
Pretty sure Stephen King wathed the movie and loved the ending and said he wished he had ended his book like that.
I love The Mist...it's really good IMO. People bitch about the creatures (and some HATE the ending), but I like the movie because it's about how quickly humans can devolve into "Lord of the Flies"-type behavior.
And yeah, frick those spider-ish things.

One of the few times where the ending is better than the book.

It's very King-y but I enjoyed it. It's always awesome when you can't see the monsters. That giant skyscraper-tall thing at the end

Very enjoyable movie, up until the end when you're left feeling like complete shite. The ending fricked my mind for a good while after finishing it.

My wife was an extra in that with a bunch of face time. And sorry, but I am not going to point her out for the OT's enjoyment.

Most fricked up ending to a movie, ever.

In the writen story, the father narrates to the reader that they will try to drive out of the mist / keep going until they run out of gas. I believe he implies the shooting at the end by mentioning the number of shells left in the gun.
Felt the movie did very well with the material it had to work with. Really enjoyed the casting of Andre Braugher as the know-it-all a-hole neighbor.
Overall, a very good King adaption, which everyone knows can be hit-or-miss. Did anyone notice the painting at the beginging of the film? I also really enjoyed the recent King adaption of 1408.
Also, out of curiosity, has anyone watched the black and white version? Suposedly that is how Darabont wanted it to be released in the theaters. Might make the CGI critters more realistic.

Get the Blu-Ray of the film and it has the black-and-white version as an extra on a separate disc.

The black and white version is great. The monsters look better and it gives the whole movie a 50s/60s sci-Fi feel

Yeah I've heard good things about the B&W version. I think I've ever watched clips before in B&W and it made it better.

I'd have preferred an ending where everyone in the car hears (what they think) are the creatures closing in on them, and it's the tanks and national guard rapping on the windows to rescue them.
Yeah yeah, a happy ending, but damn, shooting your own kid? If they though the monsters were coming, just hide and scrunch up down on the floor by the seats and put blankets over you or something.

I hated this movie. I'll have to find the thread, but I thought it was awful right after watching it.

The details and reasoning as to your distaste for the movie were dynamite and made me really understand your position
