Machetes

Holy god, I've been trying to weed through machete reviews, but apparently the only people that review machetes are dorks that have no real use for them. I picture them mock sword fighting in their back yards.
Anyway, I need a machete for clearing brush. Some of it will be fairly large shrubs, chinese privet, small trees, etc. The reviews online are all over the place, and frankly, I don't trust most of those guys to know a good blade from an aluminum butter knife.
So, what says the OB? It's main function will be chopping small trees, so a short, lightweight one won't do.

If a cane knife won't cut it, you need a handsaw or power saw.

That one's kind of 'spensive for a machete.

Sssshweet did sssomebody ssssay ssssword fights in the back yardssss with a machetessss. Count me innsss!
For a light machete I have the SOG and I gets the job done and Is sharp. Stay away from the BG Gerber machete, it looks good but is super dull. The sog has a light blade but is way sharp. If you want a thicker blade them the one already posted is a better choice.

I bought a used one for about 3 bucks at the Birmingham deer expo when I was a kid. Best machete I ever had. The only decent one I ever had, actually. I see others shaped like it, but I don't know if they're as good as that one was.

My problem is getting them sharp like new again. I need a guide or something and a good file I think.

Don't chop your brother in half, bro.

I keep three or four cheap ones from the feed store and keep them sharpened. Didn't know people reviewed certain brands online.

That's what I do. But the metal gets weak after it get hot. Can't get the perfect angle either.

Got one from an army surplus store, took the handle off, put it in my firepit, cooled in oil, it hasn't slowed down in years. Ran about $11.95
