Buddy shot me a couple of deer in TX this past weekend and he saved the ribs. Never dicked with them, should I just trim meat and grind or is there a way to make them taste like TJs ribses?

Me too, but the way he prepped them I almost feel bad tossing them.

They have no fat on them so its likely to never taste like TJ Ribs.
You can get something off of them but its barely worth the time.

I used to cook ribs all the time. Used to smother them with onions and bell pepper, add a little Italian dressing and bake until tender. Then add BBQ sauce. They were good.

I make dog food out of them. Tried to cook em once and it was like eating work boots.

Always found it strange that my grandpa would pluck a teal leg because it was wasting meat, yet we never ate deer ribs.

I was told by a close friend to try them. After I did, I wanted to break his jaw. Almost no meat, and what was there was pretty terrible.

that is an insult to a properly prepared work boot.
At least work boots dont leave a waxy film all in the roof of your mouth for a day.

I cut the meat off and grind for sausage

Take your knife and cut the meat away from the bone. Between each rib makes a little thin piece of meat that tastes good fried.

I'll use them in a gravy, along with other cuts, but I've never cooked them alone, not enough meat.

Im glad I read this. I read somewhere else where guys were eating deer ribs and would never throw them away and how good they were.
I will now keep using them for coyote bait.

I've only cooked them a few times and what I did was crock pot them till tender in seasoning then before they start falling apart, BBQ them and put your sauce on. If you've left the skirt on them they're really fricking good but they definitely take more time than they're worth to get them there. Nowadays I just take the skirt for grinding and leave the ribs to the yotes and bobcats.

Sometimes, not every time, but sometimes if I feel like it, I just run a filet knife in between each rib and take that little thin section of meat out. It takes about five minutes to do all the ribs. I then cut those little thin strips up and use them as stew meat. I use the stew meat to make what I call deer tips and rice.
