Shep had 162 total touches in his four years, which comes out to 3 touches per game. Considering all the hype surrounding Shep during his time at LSU, that's a crazy stat.

Shep averaged nearly 7ypc on a paltry 104 rushes in his career. I think this is an area where the coaching staff clearly failed him.

Year 1 - can't beat out Jarrett Lee or Jordan Jefferson
Year 2 - can't catch to save his lifw as a WR
Year 3 - beat out by more than one freshman WR
Year 4 - coaching staff realizes he's not a qb, not top 4 as a WR, not top 4 as a RB.

What do you want the coaches to do? They gave him every opportunity to be a dominant player. I would say they forced themselves to try to get him the ball many different ways. Still, freshman after freshman at multiple positions kept beating him out.

His pro career or lack thereof will decide this argument once and for all.

He will get the opportunity to prove himself in the NFL and that's all that matters.

I was always relieved when he never saw the field against the gators. Every season I'd think he'd blow past our defense if he played but he never saw time.

Posters need to let go of the myth that we didn't use him enough. In realty , Shep was a 5* at qb, not rb or wr. He is not really fast( was ran down numerous times by players that were far bigger than him). He isn't elusive( rarely juked defenders. He has BELOW avg hands at wr and he never put a lot of muscle on( got arm tackled numerous times).
The fact of the matter is, we had/have far better options at rb and wr.
I don't know how many times I've seen dumb arse rantards say ," Shep is like Percy Harvin, we should use him like that". This couldn't be further from the truth.

Who gives a shite. Why do you folks constantly look for a breakout player on offense. Never will happen.

If I were a top offensive recruit from LA coming out of high school I could not think of a good reason to want to be part of this offense.

First of all, I agree that he should have gotten more carries when you average about 7 yards a carry, but there is only ONE football to go around. I'm sure Coach Miles has a very good reason why Shep didn't get many touches. Maybe one day we will read about it in a book... lol. He has hands of stone and that will probably never change.
