Crennel still being paid by KC, makes him unlikely to coach.

According to PFT, for the next 2 years, he makes exactly the same whether he coaches or not due to an offset with what he gets from KC.
So if he doesn't work, he gets paid exactly the same as if he takes the job.
So unless he loves coaching THAT much, he's sitting on his giant arse at home.

Oh well, I wasn't as high on him as everyone else.
I think we end up hiring someone that's barely been mentioned yet.
Just a gut feeling.

Yeah if we can't get Romeo then I want some new blood, someone relatively young, smart and hungry like Tomsula.

If we can't get Crennel I wouldn't mind Eric Mangini or Keith Butler

pretty sure this is standard with any coach who gets fired.

Im not thrilled about the Crennel idea either. I think a type of guy like Singletery would be best. Mike will try his hardest to fix the weakest links which we have a lot of.

This sucks I wanted Crennel

A lot of these guys do like coaching, though and it's their life. I don't think its automatic to assume he just won't coach for two years.

When Sean said that he was taking his time, I figured that it was because he was looking at someone who will be coaching next weekend.

He'll coach. It's in his blood. Book it

He's 65 unless he's retiring he's not taking off 2 years and then starting up again at 67.

Honestly, I would do the same!

Personally I like the Moss and Norton much better even though with them you run the risk of losing them in a yr or 2 (Head Coach somewhere)

stickied thread on the DC rumors & ideas HERE
I don't think the cash in hand has much bearing on whether a guy with his resume coaches or not. He's relatively secure for life financially so it is more abour what you want to do. Like LE said, if it is in your blood and passion you do it.

Absolutely he will.
As for our DC. I'm not sure who I want. If they do go with a young up and comer that's fine by me. The main quality this defense needs out of a DC is somebody who can develop players. We have so much raw talent on defense and it sucks that some of them aren't getting the amount of playing time we'd all hoped they would.
This defense needs an identity in the worst kinda way. I want that attitude and swagger back that GW brought to this team... just with a different philosophy.

One of the things we can be most happy about is that we know Payton won't accept anything less than total success. We may be tired of going through DCs but at least it is in the search of the right compliment to our offense. I'll take that search over the past. Any of you still have recurring nightmares of how Carl Smith and Rick Venturi manned coordinator helms far too long? We were all scratching our heads. Asking "who?" now is a lot more pallatable than those years of asking "why?".

Honestly after thinking about it, I think he'll coach as well.
These guys LIVE to coach. They can do nothing else.

I've must have read this wrong. Is it saying that if he coaches somewhere next year, the team who hires him must pay what he was making in KC? Or, he will make his KC money as well as whatever the next team will pay?
