IMO this is going to kill 1A private school football.

Not a whole lot of them AFAIK, as I think a lot of those schools tend to be Class B / Class C instead.

Offhand, I can think of Southern Lab, Ascension Catholic, Ascension Episcopal, and St. John's of Plaquemine as 1A private schools which play football.

The LHSAA would have to allow the private schools to pick and choose the sports they want to play in the LHSAA. Maybe they would maybe they wouldn't? Who knows. It eventually may come down after this football thing is ironed out that all major sports will be separated into select/non-select. A 90 team private school football only league would not be easy to run. Teams from all over the state and with various sizes.

they could play all their other sports under the LHSAA and be independent in football to play who they want to play

Lhasa wouldn't allow that

If the LHSAA is going to play "tyranny of the majority", then I suggest that a new Louisiana private school association which explicitly allows its members to recruit from the ranks of the LHSAA public schools without penalty.

My gf's mom is the principal at Barbe and I talked to her about this just last night. Public schools are sick of private schools recruiting/winning everything.

Was she mad when Barbe beat Rummel for the state championship in baseball?

So the question was, "Are you a pussy?"

Schools voted accordingly.

as far as the LHSAA is concerned they all droppped football

if HC leaves the LHSAA, Chalmette can still play them in an exhibition which would be treated as a bye week by the LHSAA

A 90 team private school league in all sports would be very expensive and not convenient for private schools. Teams would be spread out all over the state. North LA has fewer private schools and they are more spread out if I am not mistaken. The private schools would be best making this select/non select football playoff thing work and hoping there is no split in other sports.

How are they going to determine who makes the playoffs when you combine the 3A, 4A and 5A select schools?

As a private school, why would you schedule anyone who you won't have to face in the post season? This idea really sucks.

Very little that is worthwhile is easy.

My proposal is along the lines of "If the LHSAA wants to frick with the private schools, let the private schools directly frick with them."

As someone who went to a 2A private school, I don't appreciate my alma mater getting fricked over because some people got their pussies bruised by Curtis, Evangel, Parkview, et all winning titles.

My intention is to let the LHSAA know that they need to be careful about trying to screw over 1/4 of their membership because a few people got upset.

They note that many of the private schools play before big crowds while many public schools share in that revenue when they play against each other.

It won't be any different

What are you talking about??

I went to Barbe and remain a supporter of the school. However, Barbe has never won a state championship in football; the statement should read "so now West Monroe will continue to win LA 5A every year."

Yes, because that has a lot to do with the competitive advantage private schools have in high school football.

I see how it makes things much easier for the nonselect 5A schools but I don't think it is that big a deal for the select 5A schools. They play almost all the big boys anyway. Am I missing something?

There are more than 32 teams. Basically what they did was guarantee that UHigh, Parkview, Notre Dame, all play on the road in the first round. Playing in a 3A district will hamstring them every year in the playoffs.

But hey, at least they made it fair. A school with 220 boys in the same class as one with 1200 boys. Fairness!
