they just have to make up their obligations to other schools beyond this school year

Can't do that because Lhasa prohibits it

The way it stands now there are around 90 private schools out of 388 total LA schools. Right now it's football only and just the playoffs. The private schools will blow up all their other sports and leave the LHSAA just over football playoffs? I doubt that. If they have to form districts with 90 teams of various sizes statewide that could get expensive for these private schools. They still have motivation for now to stay in the LHSAA. Now maybe if the LHSAA comes back and divides every sport into select/non-select then maybe the private schools leave.

they are a very small enrollment charter and they pull kids from all over the city. New Orleans is saturated with charters of this kind. Also, kids aren't lining up to attend this school because it's poor performing so they're taking whoever they can. The school was/may still be on the chopping block so they can't afford to be selective.

they could play all their other sports under the LHSAA and be independent in football to play who they want to play

Its simple, if the private schools wanted to Keep things how they were, play by the same rules as the public schools.. How hard is that to understand. I went to private for the record.

Their opponents would have to follow rules...not enough private schools would go for new association.

Ed Daniels thinks their will be.

quote:

If Proposal 18 passes, “select” schools could move quickly to form their own association. This week, several head coaches at select schools said they would be interested in such a split if the proposal passes. They note that many of the private schools play before big crowds while many public schools share in that revenue when they play against each other.
