I'm thinking about treating myself with a birthday trip to the sun store. Anyone on here have the XDS? If so what do you think of the pistol and was it a good buy? any other suggests I'm open to anything. TIA

Good buy and good gun.

Very small and if you have big hands it is kinda hard to wrap up.

Would buy again.

Have you looked at the Pearce grip extension? I got one and it helped ALOT.

Love mine. I purchased two of the extended 7 round mags that extends the grip and made it even better.

It's a nice piece. Just a bit heavy IMO.

This will probably be my next gun purchase. I need something for CC. It runs $550 at Academy, but probably cheaper online.

I have the 9mm version. I do find it heavy. I find it a bit too much to conceal and always go for the LCP instead. The Springfeild is a much nicer gun though. I have been keeping in my truck and shoot it at the range some. I like the big clip and extension the subcompact had in 9mm.

I love mine. Slim and compact. Lots of firepower in a small size. I forget the exact weight but it is comparable to the Shield and much lighter than a baby 1911. Remember, it's a 45 in a 9mm or 380 size, it's gonna be a bit beefier on the inside.

I would guess that those saying that it's too heavy have not carried too many pistols before or are using a cheap holster to carry it. I have carried mine daily since they came out in a Crossbreed holster and often forget its there.

I thought it was fairly light, too.

1" wide .45, I think if it were any smaller it would be too hard to shoot.

I agree 100%.

Are there lighter guns? Sure. Are there smaller guns? Sure. Do those guns come in a 45? No.

And remember, that's not saying that the XDs is big and heavy. It rivals a Shield in those categories, only with bigger bullets. Plus, it's half the weight of a 3" 1911.

Heavy? Geez

That's the lightest 45 I've ever seen and lighter than most pistols regardless of caliber

How did you get an XDs 9mm this early? They just released it at SHOT show this week.

And I have shot the XDs 45 and like it. The trigger is good the balance is good and the fiber optic front sight is AWESOME. I don't know why more companies don't put fiber in their front sights.

But, the problem I have with a subcompact single-stack 45 is the severe lack of rounds. The flush fit magazine only fits 5 rounds because 45 ACP is so huge.

S&W's M&P Shield is a pretty awesome gun too. It can hold 7 or 8 rounds depending on the magazine you choose. But they're difficult to find since everyone wants them so bad. I have a few friends with them and I like how they feel and shoot. Since they're based on the M&P platform, they are dead reliable.

On the other hand, I have a Kahr CM9 and it holds 6 in a flush fit mag. It's actually shorter and lighter than the XDs though. I usually carry mine with the sightly extended 7 round magazine though. 2 extra rounds may not seem like a lot, but when carrying a single stack subcompact, I want all the advantage I can get.
