week 9: Pink Floyd defeated Queen
week 10: David Lee Roth Van Halen defeated Sammy Hagar Van Halen
week 11: Jay-Z Defeated Nas
week 12: The Ronettes Defeated The Chiffons
week 13: Bob Dylan defeated Johnny Cash

week 17: Sublime defeats 311
The NYC music scene in the late 90s and early aughts -- with such acts as Interpol, Strokes, YYYs, The Rapture, TV on the Radio, The Walkmen, etc. -- was the epicenter for the burgeoning indie rock scene integrally intertwined with the post-punk revival generally. Arguably the two best bands to emerge from the NYC indie rock scene were the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Strokes.
So who ya got?

I loved the first Strokes record, so I'll give it to them on that alone...
I think The YYYs are good too...

I am underwhelmed by this matchup. If it's supposed to represent the NYC indie rock scene, can I vote TV on the Radio?
Meh. Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Just to prevent a band as thoroughly mediocre as the Strokes winning unanimity.

YYY, and it's not even close for me...though I do like the first Strokes album.
