Well Ricahards, Blanton, Hanson can probably do better than what Haren, SantanA, J. Williams gave them for most of last season....
Who cares?
Those three still suck. And CJ Wilson isn't that much better.
They have one good to great pitcher.
And it wouldn't shock me if Hamilton had the worst year of his career.

someone sounds mad.....
Blanton has been league avg no matter where he has been, Santana was below league avg
Richards will more than likely be better than Williams
And if Hanson pitches like Haren did then it wouldn't matter since they upgraded the 4/5 which would result in a few more wins.
CJ is a #2 in the league and far from "sucking" or being "just a bit better" than what they had last year.
Hamilton only has "worst season of his career" if he manages to get hurt. He may not have the power numbers but still good for 30+ home runs and a .280 or higher average. He is a perennial all-star and MVP candidate

agreed. which to me would be more like 8 or 9 mil for 1 or 2 years

I hope Hamilton has a career ending relapse

Maybe, but when you're the Red Sox, you can afford to jack up the annual rate to decrease years.

I hope your dad falls over the rail going for a ball

Why would I be mad?
I'm a Braves fan. I could give a shite less.
I just think this move is more PR than savvy baseball. It's a "dig" at the Rangers that they signed their best player.

Joe Blanton's ERA+ last year was 76. Santana's was 73. They are both awful. They just got rid of an expensive awful pitcher and replaced him with a cheap awful pitcher.

Well probably. At least he's only 24, so maybe his first 85 shitty innings aren't indicative of his overall average-ness.

He wasn't last year.

Everyone knows he's a perennial All-Star and former MVP. This is a bad move for him. He could go sub 30 in homers.
He posted the worst contact rate in all of baseball last year.
If his former bombs and doubles in Arlington turn into long outs, he could easily dip down to a .260-.270, 25-28 HR type of player. Which is still quite good, but not what he's being paid for.

Rangers are making their move by focusing on Edwin Jackson

That's what we're trying to figure out, maybe drinking a bit too much then

That could explain the anger

Have fun with Edwin Jackson

you're just full of class aren't you? I was at that game. I don't find that humorous in the least

Clearly you've run out of arguments.
Posted on 12/14/12 at 1:53 am to OBUDan
Just checking. I think you're way off base as far as CJ Wilson and Hamilton are concerned.
Wilson has thrown 200+ innings 3 years in a row with a low 3 era and in the range of 200k
Hamilton has some of the best raw power in the game. He'll hit 30+ and drive in 100 easily barring serious injury. People are overblowing the CA/relapse thing

I'm still trying to figure this out. Gyno did you really just make a joke about an 8 year losing his father who was trying to catch a baseball for his son?

I don't find you wishing a career ending relapse on a former drug addict funny, you classy little gent
Posted on 12/14/12 at 1:56 am to GynoSandberg
so you truly believe that's comparable?

The market for Jackson is said to be “strong,” so the Padres may drop out if the bidding got to $12-13 million over four or five years. That sounds a little rich, even in this market, so the Padres probably wouldn’t be alone there

according to CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman, Jackson is a target of the Rangers on a potential short-term deal
