This is hilarious to me because the only people I've ever met who I know play WoW are guys in frats.

we are a cliquish, segmeneted society, which is only enhanced by the internet and the abilility to further delve into our chosen hobby and find like minded people to further reinforce our own stereotypes and worldviews
Great post, but I hunt

Playing video games is no better or worse a hobby than anything else.
I think the stereotype comes from people who don't have balance in their lives and everything revolves around gaming. Honestly I don't personally know anyone like that. Not that I know of anyway.
But in all honesty, if you've ever been to a midnight COD release you will immediate know where the stereotype comes from lol.
Stout can link you up some sweet halo/black ops 2 midnight release photos

Hell I'm a redneck hunter and I'd understand. but I get what you're saying.
eta: I'm upper 30's and still play games and still live a very functional life. Granted I may only play 15 hours a week...couple hours a night...but it's great to unwind. To get back to the OP, the generation behind us will see it as more acceptable.
I already see nephews playing with their dad's and friend's kids doing the same. To them like that, they will never question it. It will be normal for them to see older people playing and won't judge

Now, we have people separating games into nerdy vs. non-nerdy. Casual games are acceptable (Halo, Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Mario, etc.) and then you see more hardcore or niche games immediately deemed as weird.
What I see is console vs. PC gaming. I didn't buy any of the Xbox360/PS3 whatever, so I got back into PC gaming. Everyone's reaction is like WTF and think its super nerdy even though they are playing Skyrim on a PS3. Weird right?
Plus, all these tards bought Macs while in law school because apparently, that was the thing to do. I don't know anybody with a damn PC laptop who is also into games besides my own brother and that a-hole has a 2 year old daughter so I rarely get to play multiplayer since he's all responsible and stuff.
Ya, I'm mad. Let's roll back to 2000. Good year. I was in highschool, people still had PCs, brother was only 20 years old.

Everybody who grew up on Atari forward will be accepting of this culture. Even people my age don't usually game. I'm an exception. But I see the value in what it provides.

There is a lot of this on this board, but it's not too bad. The PC people are vastly outnumbered on here.
